Vancouver Giants Hockey Games

Vancouver Giants Hockey Team

The Vancouver Giants are a great local major junior hockey team in the Western Hockey League that plays home games at the Langley Events Centre in Langley.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2019-2020 WHL regular season came to an abrupt end. The 2021 season was postponed but eventually began in late February, and the Vancouver Giants played their first game on March 26th. They competed in 22 regular-season matches, but the Memorial Cup has unfortunately been cancelled for the year.

The Vancouver Giants

The Vancouver Giants used to be based at the Pacific Coliseum at the PNE, but now play home games at the much newer and more modern facility in the Fraser Valley. If you love watching live affordable ice hockey, then their games can be one of “Vancouver’s best places” to be.

Vancouver Giants 2021 Schedule

The 2019-2020 regular season was cut short and the playoffs were cancelled due to COVID-19. The Vancouver Giants began a new season in March 2021. This season’s schedule is different from usual because the Giants are only playing against other teams from the same province. All games in the BC division are taking place in Kamloops and Kelowna. Unfortunately, fans are unable to attend games this season but they can still watch live from home.

About the Vancouver Giants

The Western Hockey League (WHL) is lower than the National Hockey League (NHL), but still very exciting hockey to watch, plus much more affordable. Giants’ tickets usually cost between about $23 and $30, which is cheap compared to games for the Vancouver Canucks.

In normal years, as part of the Western Hockey League, the Vancouver Giants play against teams from all four Western Canadian provinces as well as from Washington and Oregon in the States. Other BC teams include the Victoria Royals, Kamloops Blazers, Prince George Cougars and Kootenay Ice (which is based in Cranbrook).

Vancouver Giants players range in age from about 17 to 20 and they all hope one day to make it to professional hockey, and a fair number of them do.
