The NV Holiday Bazaar is a Christmas craft fair in West Vancouver in November. In 2019 it also had a sister event in Yaletown on December 13th to 15th.
In 2019 there was not just one, but two locations for the Holiday Bazaar! The NV Holiday Bazaar was on the weekend of November 23rd and 24th. New for 2019, there was also a Vancouver Holiday Bazaar in the City of Vancouver on December 13th to 15th.
The Vancouver event last took place at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Yaletown on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of December 13th, 14th and 15th. The Vancouver event featured as many as 100 vendors. Admission for it was $5 at the door or $2 less for tickets purchased online. Children ages 12 and under got in free.
Unfortunately, the 2020 NV Holiday Bazaar was cancelled due to concerns about COVID-19. The event may or may not take place in 2021. Dates and details for the 2021 event are to be confirmed. There might be future editions of the markets, but there also might not be.
North Van Christmas Craft Fair in West Vancouver
The North Vancouver Holiday Bazaar is the new name (as of 2018) for what was formerly known as “The Carson Graham Christmas Craft Fair”.
This annual event is a medium-sized Christmas craft and artisan market. It features over four dozen or so local vendors selling items from a wide range of categories including jewellery, clothing, bath and body goods, art, wine, home decor, woodwork, children’s products and food.
The market used to take place at Carson Graham Secondary School in North Vancouver (which is why it’s still called the North Vancouver Holiday Bazaar). Now when it happens though, it takes place at a different location in nearby West Vancouver.
NV Holiday Bazaar Event Details
The NV Holiday Bazaar takes place in a new location as of 2018. Its new venue is the West Vancouver Community Centre at 2121 Marine Drive in West Vancouver.
In 2019 the event happened on the weekend of November 23rd and 24th from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on both days.
The same as the year before, admission to the North Vancouver Holiday Bazaar was free.
Products for sale at the event are generally of very high quality. Participating vendors have all had to apply to participate and their products have been submitted to a jury for review. Priority is given to products that are unique, handmade by the vendor, and locally produced or at least made in BC or Canada.
Examples of products you’ll find at the NV Holiday Bazaar include hand-sewn or knitted clothing, greeting cards featuring art by local artists, homemade goodies, handmade soaps, candles, glasswork and other items that make great Christmas gifts.
Some of the vendors participating in the event are professional artists, some make their products as a hobby, some are full-time local businesses, and for some it’s their first time as a craft fair or holiday market vendor. All vendor participants are creative though and passionate about what they do.
Bazaar Tips & Advice
Below is a list of suggestions and things to know to help you make the most out of your experience at North Vancouver’s Holiday Bazaar.
TIP #1: If you’re looking for a gift for someone that’s hard to buy for, this is a good place to find it. The products are unique, handmade and from local artists and creative entrepreneurs.
TIP #2: Note the new venue – it is NOT at Carson Graham Secondary anymore. There is plenty of on-site parking at the West Vancouver Community Centre, but you may also need to try street parking.
TIP #3: While you’re on the North Shore, and if the weather is good, combine your trip with a visit to other places of interest. For shopping there are places like Lonsdale Quay, and for nature there are dozens of world-class parks and attractions including the Cleveland Dam, Grouse Mountain, Lynn Canyon and Ambleside to name just a few. TIP #4: When doing your holiday shopping, try to support local! Buying from small businesses and area artists helps keep money in the local economy and benefits the community. Craft fairs like the NV Holiday Bazaar are great places to buy local!
