Vancouver’s Point Grey Fiesta in 2024

Point Grey Fiesta

The Point Grey Fiesta is a community festival with amusement rides and family-friendly activities in Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood in June.

Point Grey Community Festival

Running since the mid-1980s, the Point Grey Fiesta is a community event that’s popular with residents of the area. It’s also free! In 2024 the event celebrates its 37th year!

Festival Dates and Times

In recent years the event has happened on the Father’s Day Weekend, or the weekend after or the weekend before. In 2024 the carnival takes place even earlier. Its dates this year are June 7th to 9th.

The amusement rides start up on the Friday afternoon and run all weekend. In the past there has also been a parade on the Saturday morning, but not in recent years.

In 2024 the amusement rides and midway operate on the Friday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on the Saturday, and from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm on the Sunday.

Father's Day Activities in Vancouver

Festival Location

The Point Grey Fiesta takes place in the upscale neighbourhood of Point Grey which is between Kitsilano and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. The area is south of 4th Avenue and not far from Spanish Banks, Locarno and Jericho beaches.

The main venue for the event is Trimble Park which is located at 2250 Trimble Street.

Point Grey Fiesta Parade

In years when it happened, the parade took place on the Saturday. It was a small procession and lasted for around 25 minutes or so. The parade hasn’t happened for a few years. Whether it takes place again is to be determined. Maybe, maybe not.

Participants in the parade included community groups, a couple of marching bands, cars with local politicians, sports teams, decorated trucks from area businesses, and people handing out candy.

When the parade used to take place, it started at the corner of Blanca Street and West 10th Avenue. From there it went east along 10th Avenue to Discovery, and then north along Discovery Street to Trimble Park. The parade typically reached Trimble Park after 11:00 am, so prime viewing was sometime between 10:00 am and 11:00 am.

Fiesta Admission

Admission to the Point Grey Fiesta is free. Food is extra, of course, as are the amusement rides.

The carnival rides are run by Shooting Star Amusements. In the past, tickets have cost around $1.50 or $50.00 for a book of 40 tickets. Each ride takes between three and six tickets.
