World-Record-Breaking Event on the White Rock Pier

Charcuterie on the Pier was a one-day fundraising event in White Rock. Sheila’s Catering Company hoped to make history at the event with the longest charcuterie board in the world!

Based in South Surrey, the catering company put together a 500-foot-long charcuterie board on the White Rock Pier. Guinness World Record representatives were on-site to judge, measure and record the length of the board. The world record attempt was a sight to see! Not only that, but guests got to enjoy some delicious food too! Sheila’s Catering Company is a highly-rated business that specializes in upscale cuisine, so the spread was impressive! Professional falconers walked along the pier to keep seagulls away.

There were four bars serving various wines and beverages at the event. Although Charcuterie on the Pier was a ticketed event, there was also live music and other fun activities open to the public at Memorial Park (which is the park right beside the pier). Performers included Jim Black and Ben Brown, the Adam Robert Thomas Trio, and more.

Charcuterie on the Pier happened on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023.

About the White Rock Pier

The White Rock Pier is a popular attraction to visit. People come from all across the Lower Mainland and beyond to see it. It’s located beside Memorial Park, so near 15300 Marine Drive. At 470 metres long, it’s the longest wooden pier in all of Canada.

Built in 1914, the pier was originally used as a dock for steamships. Now, over a century later, only smaller boats use the pier. It’s a great place for an oceanfront stroll. The pier is for walking only. Cycling, skateboarding and rollerblading are not allowed. Dogs are also prohibited.

Several events take place at the pier and its surrounding area throughout the year. For example, there’s the White Rock Sea Festival and Picnic on the Pier in the summer. During the Christmas season, the pier is also decorated with festive illuminations for the Bright Walk in White Rock event. On January 1st there is the New Year’s Day White Rock Polar Bear Plunge.
