North Van’s Presentation House Theatre
Presentation House Theatre is an entertainment venue with up to 150 seats on Vancouver’s North Shore. Operated by the Presentation House Cultural Society, the theatre has been putting on fabulous shows for over 40 years. Audiences at the theatre enjoy a variety of performing arts including live theatre, dance and music.

Where is Presentation House
Presentation House Theatre is located at 333 Chesterfield Avenue. It’s in a historic building in North Vancouver that has served as a school, city hall, police station and more since 1902.
The theatre is part of the Lower Lonsdale District on the North Shore. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus Terminal, meaning it’s close to the Shipyards and the waterfront.
2024 Presentation House Shows
Presentation House Theatre offered the following shows and events in the fall of 2024.
- Earworm (Thursday through to Sunday of October 10th to 13th, 2024)
- Little Pea (Friday through to Saturday of October 18th to 26th, 2024)
- Haunted Histories (Tuesday of October 29th, 2024)
- The STAND Festival (Friday through to Sunday of November 1st to 17th, 2024)
- Where the Wild Things Are (Friday through to Sunday of November 22nd to December 1st, 2024)
- A Christmas Carol (Saturday through to Sunday of December 7th to 15th, 2024)
- Holiday Singalong (Tuesday through to Saturday of December 17th to 21st, 2024)

Earworm
(October 10th to 13th, 2024)
Earworm was presented in partnership with the Blackout Art Society. Written by Mohammad Yaghoubi, it was a play inspired by real events. The story was about the big impact of the Iranian revolutions between 1979 and 2022. It involved parenting, love and politics.
This play was recommended for ages 14 and over. It ran daily from October 10th to 13th with a runtime of about two hours. Ticket prices ranged between $20 and $50 per person on a pay-what-you-can scale.

Little Pea
(October 18th to 26th, 2024)
Little Pea was a one-hour production for families with young children. Created by Agnès Limbos, it was a play about a pea that escapes imprisonment and tries to find a new home. The show included everyday objects and an enthusiastic storyteller. It was a silly story intended for children ages 4 to 7.
Performances ran on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between October 18th and 26th. Tickets were pay-what-you-can. Options ranged from $15 to $35 per person.

Haunted Histories
(October 29th, 2024)
Haunted Histories was a one-night event with the Vancouver Paranormal Society. It was a two-hour presentation about the team’s investigation into Presentation House Theatre. The historic building may be home to spirits, and the paranormal team shared their findings and experiences.
This Halloween-themed show was intended for ages 10 and over. Tickets ranged from $15 to $35 each on a sliding pay-what-you-can scale.

STAND Festival
(November 1st to 17th, 2024)
The fourth annual STAND Festival took place on most days from November 1st to 17th in 2024. It was a celebration of refugee and immigrant artists. There were excellent dancers, singers and other performers putting on shows at Presentation House Theatre, The Annex and the Scotiabank Dance Centre.

- Monday, November 4th – Speaking Body workshop with Wen Wei.
- Wednesday, November 6th – Curation and Artist-Presenter Relations workshop with Gabrielle Martin.
- Thursday, November 7th – Moving Bodies – Migrant Stories workshop with Alvin Erasga Tolentino.
- Saturday, November 9th – Bekhand: An Evening With 50 Inspiring Iranian Women (Theatre).
- Sunday, November 10th – The Toad Canes/Metamorphosis (Dance).
- Tuesday, November 12th – Between The Lines – Building Theatrical Action workshop with Heidi Taylor.
- Wednesday, November 13th – Regenerative Meditation Walk workshop with Sarvin Esmaeili.
- Thursday, November 14th – Between The Lines – Building Theatrical Action workshop with Heidi Taylor.
- Friday, November 15th – Gay Ancestors and We All Become An Eye (Theatre).
- Saturday, November 16th – APÄTRIDA (Music).
- Sunday, November 17th – I Am 108 (Theatre).
Tickets started at about $17 each depending on the event. Shows were recommended for ages 12 and over.

Where the Wild Things Are
(November 22nd to December 1st, 2024)
Based on the story by Maurice Sendak, this show was a family-friendly production that was especially fun for kids ages 3 to 7 years old. It was an interactive play about a character who turns his bedroom into a place for adventures.
Tickets cost about $15 to $35 each depending on how much you were willing to pay. The show was about 60 minutes long and ran on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between November 22nd and December 1st in 2024.

A Christmas Carol
(December 4th to 15th, 2024)
Presentation House Theatre hosted A Christmas Carol production during the Christmas season in 2024. Co-produced by Elsinor Teatro and based on the story by Charles Dickens, the show told the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in a unique way. It was a scenic reading performed by Leslie Dos Remedios with live music by students from West Vancouver’s Sentinel Secondary School.
The show ran for about an hour on the Saturdays of December 4th and 14th as well as on the Sunday of December 15th. Tickets ranged from $15 to $35 per person on a pay-what-you-can scale.

Holiday Singalong
(December 17th to 21st, 2024)
Holiday Singalong was a fun 90-minute show to help get everyone into the festive spirit. It was a casual singalong to Christmas staples at Presentation House Theatre. The singalong ran on December 17th and 18th, and again on December 20th and 21st. Admission was pay-what-you-can. Tickets were available online for $15 to $35 per person. The singalong ran for about 90 minutes each night.

About the Theatre
The building that is now the Presentation House Theatre was formerly the North Vancouver City Hall for over half of the 20th century. It was also a police station and the home of the city’s engineering department before it became a theatre in the 1970s.
On top of their main stage shows PHT offers different programs in the community. They offer two programs that are aimed at elementary school students and tour in different schools around the region.
