Presentation House Fall Season

North Van’s Presentation House Theatre

Presentation House Theatre is an entertainment venue with up to 150 seats on Vancouver’s North Shore. Operated by the Presentation House Cultural Society, the theatre has been putting on fabulous shows for over 40 years. Audiences at the theatre enjoy a variety of performing arts including live theatre, dance and music.

Where is Presentation House

Presentation House Theatre is located at 333 Chesterfield Avenue. It’s in a historic building in North Vancouver that has served as a school, city hall, police station and more since 1902.

The theatre is part of the Lower Lonsdale District on the North Shore. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus Terminal, meaning it’s close to the Shipyards and the waterfront.

Earworm

(October 10th to 13th, 2024)

Earworm is presented in partnership with the Blackout Art Society. Written by Mohammad Yaghoubi, it’s a play inspired by real events. The story is about the big impact of the Iranian revolutions between 1979 and 2022. It involves parenting, love and politics.

This play is recommended for ages 14 and over. It runs daily from October 10th to 13th with a runtime of about two hours. Ticket prices range between $20 and $50 per person on a pay-what-you-can scale.

Little Pea

(October 18th to 26th, 2024)

Little Pea is a one-hour production for families with young children. Created by Agnès Limbos, it’s a play about a pea that escapes imprisonment and tries to find a new home. The show includes everyday objects and an enthusiastic storyteller. It’s a silly story intended for children ages 4 to 7.

Performances run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between October 18th and 26th. Tickets are pay-what-you-can. Options range from $15 to $35 per person.

Haunted Histories

(October 29th, 2024)

Haunted Histories is a one-night event with the Vancouver Paranormal Society. It’s a two-hour presentation about the team’s investigation into the Presentation House Theatre. The historic building may be home to spirits, and the paranormal team shares their findings and experiences.

This Halloween-themed show is intended for ages 10 and over. Tickets range from $15 to $35 each on a sliding pay-what-you-can scale.

STAND Festival

(November 1st to 17th, 2024)

The fourth annual STAND Festival takes place on most days from November 1st to 17th in 2024. It’s a celebration of refugee and immigrant artists. There are excellent dancers, singers and other performers putting on shows at Presentation House Theatre, The Annex and the Scotiabank Dance Centre.

This year’s schedule is listed below.

  • Saturday, November 2nd – Lussilia, Strings of Unity and Home Is a River (Music) at the Scotiabank Dance Centre.

  • Monday, November 4th – Speaking Body workshop with Wen Wei at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Tuesday, November 5th – The Immigrant’s Heartbeat and Katha – Keertana Chronicles (Music) at The Annex.
  • Wednesday, November 6th – Curation and Artist-Presenter Relations workshop with Gabrielle Martin at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Thursday, November 7th – Moving Bodies – Migrant Stories workshop with Alvin Erasga Tolentino at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Saturday, November 9th – Bekhand: An Evening With 50 Inspiring Iranian Women (Theatre) at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Sunday, November 10th – The Toad Canes/Metamorphosis (Dance) at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Monday, November 11th – From Grave to Grace and Songs from the East (Music) at The Annex.
  • Tuesday, November 12th – Between The Lines – Building Theatrical Action workshop with Heidi Taylor at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Wednesday, November 13th – Regenerative Meditation Walk workshop with Sarvin Esmaeili at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Thursday, November 14th – Between The Lines – Building Theatrical Action workshop with Heidi Taylor at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Friday, November 15th – Gay Ancestors and We All Become An Eye (Theatre) at Presentation House Theatre.
  • Saturday, November 16th – APÄTRIDA (Music) at Presentation House Theatre.

Tickets start at about $17 each depending on the event. Shows are recommended for ages 12 and over.

Where the Wild Things Are

(November 22nd to December 1st, 2024)

Based on the story by Maurice Sendak, this show is a family-friendly production that’s especially fun for kids ages 3 to 7 years old. It’s an interactive play about a character who turns his bedroom into a place for adventures.

Tickets cost about $15 to $35 each depending on how much you’re willing to pay. The show is about 60 minutes long and runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between November 22nd and December 1st in 2024.

A Christmas Carol

(December  7th to 15th, 2024)

Presentation House Theatre hosts A Christmas Carol production during the Christmas season in 2024. Co-produced by Elsinor Teatro and based on the story by Charles Dickens, the show tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in a unique way. It’s a scenic reading performed by Leslie Dos Remedios with live music by students from West Vancouver’s Sentinel Secondary School.

The show runs for about an hour on the Saturdays of December 7th and 14th as well as on the Sunday of December 15th. Tickets range from $15 to $35 per person on a pay-what-you-can scale.

Holiday Singalong

(December 17th to 21st, 2024)

Holiday Singalong is a fun 90-minute show to help get everyone into the festive spirit. It’s a casual singalong to Christmas staples at Presentation House Theatre. The singalong runs on December 17th and 18th, and again on December 20th and 21st. Admission is pay-what-you-can. Tickets are available online for $15 to $35 per person. The singalong runs for about 90 minutes each night.
