August 2026 Highlights
Major events in early August include the BC Day Long Weekend, Vancouver Pride Festival, Harmony Arts Festival, and Brigade Days at Fort Langley.
Brigade Days at Fort Langley – celebrations featuring folk in period costume at the National Historic Site. There is also the Celebrate BC Festival, Abbotsford Agrifair, and Chilliwack Corn Festival.
Mid-month there are events like the Abbotsford Airshow, African Descent Festival, Symphony in the Park in Abbotsford, and Ribfest Langley. Towards the end of August there is the PNE Fair, Salmon Sessions Music Festival, Summer Music & Fireworks Festival, and various other events. Theatre Under the Stars has shows until August 22nd, while Bard on the Beach continues until mid-September.
The weather is usually hot and beautiful in August. It’s typically one of the sunniest and driest months of the year, although the last week or so of the month often seems to have a few rainy days.
Great things to do in August when the weather is good include hanging out at Vancouver’s Top Beaches, exploring the region’s Parks & Nature and having fun at Playland. There are Outdoor Swimming Pools for kids to enjoy and Lower Mainland Golf Courses for adults. There are also walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver, outdoor adventure games with Vancouver Mysteries, and the Shipyards Night Market on Fridays.
Museums to visit include the Vancouver Maritime Museum, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Chinese Canadian Museum, and Britannia Mine. There is also Fort Langley and lots of other interesting places too.
