January 2025 Highlights
January is always a much quieter month than December (and most other months too actually). There are still, however, lots of things to do.
In early January there are ongoing Christmas activities like Canyon Lights at Capilano Bridge and the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Garden. In Coquitlam there is Lights at Lafarge and in the Fraser Valley Lights on the Lake. This year there is also ECHO at Cirque du Soleil up until January 5th.
On January 1st there are Polar Bear Swims at English Bay, White Rock and other communities. The free ice skating at Robson Square and the Shipyards in North Vancouver also continues all month and into February.
Other highlights of the month include the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and Dine Out Vancouver Festival. There are the Vancouver Chilly Chase running races, concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Robbie Burns Day events. The Vancouver Motorcycle Show also takes place in January, as does the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival.
Lunar New Year takes place either this month or in February each year. When it happens in January, (like it does in 2025), there is the Chinese New Year Parade, Vancouver Lunarfest, and other events. In 2024 Lunar New Year is on January 29th.
Other fun activities to do in January are outdoor adventure games with Vancouver Mysteries, walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver, and virtual reality games at Zero Latency. There are also snow sports at Lower Mainland Ski Hills. Rainy Day Activities are also usually popular in January.
