July 2024 Highlights
July begins with Canada Day events across Metro Vancouver. The largest July 1st celebrations happen in Surrey, and there are other events in North Vancouver and Fort Langley. Three different nightclub-style cruises take place on the long weekend with Vancouver Boat Parties. The same weekend also features the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival, Golden Spike Days and the Whey-ah-Wichen Canoe Festival.
Major festivals happening in July include Carnaval del Sol, Surrey Fusion Festival and Celebration of Light fireworks displays. For food lovers, there’s Port Moody Ribfest and Chilliwack Ribfest. Fans of theatre, meanwhile, can enjoy shows at Theatre Under the Stars, Bard on the Beach, Place des Arts and The Improv Centre.
July is a busy month for live music. There’s the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Mission Folk Music Festival and Tribute Concerts with music by the Eagles. The Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival also takes place this month with a variety of free and ticketed shows. There are others series of free performances as well, including Mission Twilight Concerts and Sounds of Summer on Wednesdays, Concerts at the Pier on Thursdays and Port Moody Summer Sundays. Free film screenings happening in July include Stanley Park Cinema on Tuesdays, plus Deckchair Cinema and Summer Movie Nights on Thursdays.
There are lots of other interesting events in July too, including Greek Summerfest, the Harrison Festival of the Arts, Boundary Bay Airshow, Fiji Festival, Vancouver Chinatown Festival, The Cup, and Maple Ride-Pitt Meadows Country Fest. There’s also the Shipyards Night Market on Fridays and the Richmond Night Market on weekends.
Other fun activities to do are outdoor games with Vancouver Mysteries and ropes course adventures at WildPlay Element Park. There are walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver and museums to visit like the Vancouver Maritime Museum, BC Sports Hall of Fame, Sasquatch Museum, Fraser River Discovery Centre and Britannia Mine.
