Surrey Sounds of Summer Concert Series

The Sounds of Summer Live Music Series are free outdoor concerts at different parks in Surrey on Wednesday evenings in July and August.

The series of events happened between July 5th and August 30th in 2023 at various venues. Exact dates and details for the event in 2024 are to be confirmed.

Sounds of Summer Live Music

Residents of Surrey and the entire Lower Mainland can take their lawn chairs and blankets to sit on, plus their picnics to eat, and come out and enjoy the free music entertainment.

The 2023 Sounds of Summer concerts ran in July and August. Admission is free and advanced registration isn’t necessary. All events are open to the public. Below was the summer schedule of dates and locations for 2023, along with suggestions on what else to do while in the area.

 

July 5th (2023) Concert at Surrey Civic Plaza

On July 5th, the free concert took place at Surrey Civic Plaza. It started at 6:30 pm and featured folk music with the acoustic Sturtz quartet.

Surrey Civic Plaza is located at 13450 104th Avenue. It’s easy to get to via public transit, as it’s just beside the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station. The venue is also across the street from Holland Park and near Central City Shopping Centre which has over 140 stores.

 

July 12th (2023) Concert at Glades Garden

The July 12th concert happened at Glades Woodland Garden starting at 6:30 pm. At the event the Asi Somos group performed Venezuelan Folk music.

Glades Garden is at 457-172nd Street in South Surrey. The park is close to the Peace Arch Border and not far from White Rock. It’s a wonderful garden that’s only open on select days.

July 19th (2023) Concert at The Museum of Surrey

On Wednesday, July 19th, there was live music at the Museum of Surrey at 17710 56A Avenue in Surrey. Sierra Noble performed Métis Fiddle music at 6:30 pm, followed by Hip Hop music by Super Duty Tough Work at 7:15 pm.

 

July 26th (2023) Concert at Darts Hill Garden

On July 26th, the free concert took place at Darts Hill Garden Park. The live Big Band music was by South Van Big Band.

Darts Hill is located at 1633-170th Street in South Surrey. White Rock is only about a 10-minute drive away. It’s a beautiful semi-private garden that’s open to the public at specific times of the year.

August 2nd (2023) Concert at Surrey Civic Plaza

On Wednesday, August 2nd, the free concert was held at Surrey Civic Plaza. The show started at 6:30 pm and featured Bollywood Dance with Karima Essa followed by Dhol Drumming with Dholnation at 7:15 pm.

 

August 9th (2023) Concert at Clayton Community Centre

On August 9th, the free concert happened at Clayton Community Centre and started at 6:30 pm. The venue is located at 7155 187A Street. It’s a short walk away from Clayton Park, which features lawn bowling fields, tennis courts and a nearby off-leash area for dogs.

The concert with West Coast Funk songs was performed by Cookin’ With Brass.

 

Free Vancouver Summer Concerts

 

August 16th (2023) Concert at Stewart Farm

On Wednesday, August 16th, the free concert took place at the Historic Stewart Farm. Rock music was performed by Stealing Dan.

Located at 13723 Crescent Road, the farm is one part of Elgin Heritage Park. The venue also features a forested area with hiking trails to explore.

 

August 23rd (2023) Concert at Holland Park

The free concert on Wednesday, August 23rd started at 6:30 pm. Mivule performed Reggae, Afrobeat and Dub music at Holland Park.

 

August 30th (2023) Concert at Surrey Civic Plaza

On Wednesday, August 30th, the free concert was held at Surrey Civic Plaza. The show began at 6:30 pm with music by Krystle Dos Santos.
