Events This Weekend in Vancouver

Highlights of the weekend of July 3rd to 5th include the Vancouver Jazz Festival, FVDED in the Park, Canada Cup and Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival. Also happening this weekend is the Shipyards Night Market (on Friday) as well as amusement rides at both Playland and Cultus Lake Adventure Park.

The FIFA World Cup is still in Vancouver. Soccer-themed events in the Lower Mainland include Soccer in the Square at UBC, Richmond Celebrates Soccer, the FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE, Surrey Soccer Fan Zones, Granville Island Watch Party, and more (including Canyon Kick-Off at Capilano Bridge and the Bay’Score Fan Experience at the Westin Bayshore Hotel).

For fans of other sports, there is a basketball game at the Langley Events Centre with the Vancouver Bandits and baseball games with the Vancouver Canadians at Nat Bailey Stadium.

For folks who want to see a show, there is improvisational theatre at The Improv Centre at Granville Island and the films Awaken Canada and Call of the Canadian Rockies at Flyover. There is also Theatre Under the Stars, Bard on the Beach and Live & Local in North Vancouver.

Other things to do this weekend include walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver,  games with Vancouver Mysteries, outdoor adventures with WildPlay in Maple Ridge, and indoor virtual reality battles with Zero Latency. There are also lots of great museums to visit including the Chinese Canadian Museum, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Fort Langley, Britannia Mine, Museum of Surrey and many others.

Highlights of the weekend of July 10th to 12th include the Carnaval del Sol Latin festival, Harrison Festival of the Arts, Squamish Nation Youth Pow Wow, Khatsahlano Street Party, Fiji Festival, Canada Cup and an Art Workshop at the Cannery at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. In the Fraser Valley there is also Abbotsford Berry Fest and Hoʻopili me ke Aloha at Fort Langley.
