Events This Weekend in Vancouver
Highlights of the weekend of May 22nd to 25th include Ladner May Days, May the Forest Be With You Day at the Zoo, and Vancouver Bandits Basketball games in Langley. This weekend also marks the start of the season for the Shipyards Night Market and Playland at the PNE. In New Westminster there is the Hyack Multicultural Parade & Festival as well as an Eagles Tribute Concert with the band Take It To The Limit at Massey Theatre. In the Fraser Valley, it’s lupin season at Lakeland Flowers.
For folks who want to see a show, there is the musical Legally Blonde with Metro Theatre in Vancouver, improvisational theatre at The Improv Centre on Granville Island, and the films Awaken Canada and Beyond Chicago at Flyover.
Other things to do this weekend include walking tours with Forbidden Vancouver, games with Vancouver Mysteries, outdoor adventures with WildPlay in Maple Ridge, and indoor virtual reality battles with Zero Latency. There are also lots of great museums to visit including the Chinese Canadian Museum, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Fort Langley, Britannia Mine, Museum of Surrey and many others.

Friday, May 22nd, 2026
- Ladner May Days – first day of the 3-day community event in Ladner’s Memorial Park with live music, amusement rides and a fastball tournament.
- Vancouver Bandits Basketball – the team plays their home opener against the Edmonton Stingers at the Langley Events Centre.
- Shipyards Night Market – market vendors, food trucks, beer garden and live entertainment at the Shipyards in North Vancouver.
- Lakeland Flowers – displays of lupins, peonies, lavender and other flowers happen at the Abbotsford farm between now and mid-June. This evening there is also live piano music (weather permitting).
- Richmond Night Market – Vancouver’s famous weekend Asian market in Richmond.
- Lower Mainland Parks – if good weather, various parks and places in nature can be “best places” to be!
