First Impressions Theatre produces amazing original shows at North Vancouver’s Deep Cove Shaw Theatre. Its 2026-2027 season runs from September to May.

First Impressions Theatre at Deep Cove

First Impressions Theatre is a small theatre company based on Vancouver’s North Shore. Like the Deep Cove Stage Society, it hosts shows at the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre, which is one part of the Deep Cove Cultural Centre.

The venue is located at 4360 Gallant Avenue in North Vancouver. Although the facility is small with just 130 seats, First Impressions Theatre puts on excellent productions each year.

The theatre hosts shows each year from fall through spring. In 2026, the theatre celebrates its 43rd anniversary.

2026-2027 Season

The 2026-2027 season starts on September 3rd, 2026, and runs until May 8th next year.

General admission to regular shows usually costs $35 per adult, although prices per show were yet to be confirmed for the upcoming season as of the last time we checked.

Paparazzi: Opera on the Rocks

September 3rd – September 18th, 2026

Paparazzi – Opera on the Rocks opens the 2026-2027 season. Written, directed by, and starring Martin Murphy, the production showcases a combination of opera and comedy. It demonstrates to the audience how opera music has heavily influenced popular music over the last century. The unique show plays with a silly, family-friendly tone while also showcasing tremendous musicians on stage.

Paparazzi isn’t a play. It’s a lovely evening of classical music, opera, rock and pop. There is even a bit of Sesame and Disney music too. It’s an original production.

Martin Murphy is a talented opera singer and entertainer. He can sing everything from classic opera to Elvis. He can also dress himself to look just like Luciano Pavarotti, the world-famous opera singer. In fact, for a number of years, he toured the country with a couple of friends as impersonators of The Three Tenors. Luciano Paparazzi (a.k.a. Martin Murphy) is an amazing singer. At times, his facial expressions are also quite entertaining.

Joining Martin Murphy on the stage are Bruce Petherick (on piano), Jenaya Barker (on vocals) and Mark Richardson (on guitar). All four are very talented musicians.

Paparazzi – Opera on the Rocks shows on Thursdays to Saturdays between September 3rd and 18th. If you like live music, it’s highly recommended. It’s also a fabulous introduction to opera.

Lunenberg

November 12th – November 28th, 2026

Lunenberg is a mystery-comedy about a widowed woman who learns that her late husband owned a house in Nova Scotia. She travels with her friend to uncover her husband’s secret life in an adventure-type production.

Little Shop of Horrors

February 18th – March 6th, 2027

Little Shop of Horrors is a dark and funny horror musical about a very unusual plant. The story follows a struggling flower shop worker whose life changes after he discovers a strange plant.

A History of Motown

April 29th – May 8th, 2027

A History of Motown is the last show of the season. The production celebrates the influence of Motown, featuring songs by the era’s most iconic artists. Award-winning performer Krystle Dos Santos leads the show with a band and singers.
