
Lots of festive holiday Christmas concerts by area choirs and orchestras take place in December each year in Metro Vancouver.
Concerts and shows typically happening in mid-December include ones with the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir and Chor Leoni. Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre as well. For an idea of what else to expect, continue reading to learn about the various concerts Metro Vancouver has to offer.

Holiday Concerts in Vancouver in November and December
Some of the region’s favourite holiday performances include concerts by the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir, United Voices Choir, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Chor Leoni, Vancouver Bach Choir, and Pacific Baroque Orchestra with Early Music Vancouver. There is also the Goh Ballet Nutcracker which is a ballet, but with an orchestra accompaniment.

Early Music Vancouver Concerts
Early Music Vancouver hosts shows throughout most of the year, including over the Christmas season. In 2026 the performing arts organization presents two concerts in December at the Chan Centre, located at 6265 Crescent Road.
The 2026 schedule is below (with exact details subject to change).
- Friday, December 4th, 2026 – A French Baroque Christmas with Ensemble Correspondances at 7:30 pm.
- Sunday, December 20th, 2026 – Festive Cantatas: Gloria with Vivaldi & Bach at 3:00 pm.

Vancouver Symphony Concerts
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performs its annual Traditional Christmas series of Christmas concerts at various venues throughout the Lower Mainland. The 2026 schedule is listed below.

- Wednesday, December 9th, 2026 – at 7:00 pm at South Delta Baptist Church in Delta.
- Friday, December 11th, 2026 – at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver.
- Saturday, December 12th, 2026Â – at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey.
- Sunday, December 13th, 2026 – at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.
In addition to the above Traditional Christmas concerts, there are also the following concerts which have a Christmas theme:
- Thursday, December 17th, and Friday, December 18th, 2026Â –Â Home Alone in Concert at the Orpheum Theatre at 7:00 pm.
- Saturday, December 19th, and Sunday, December 20th, 2026Â –Â The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert at the Orpheum Theatre at 7:00 pm on the first day and 2:00 pm on the second day.

Vancouver Bach Choir Concerts
In 2026 the Vancouver Bach Choir performs at the following places and times:

- Sunday, December 6th, 2026 – Christmas with the Bach Choir at 2:00 pm at the Orpheum in Vancouver. The concert typically features hundreds of singers.
- Saturday, December 12th, 2026 – Handel’s Messiah at 7:30 pm at the Orpheum Theatre.

Goh Ballet’s Nutcracker
Goh Ballet hosts a special production of The Nutcracker during the Christmas season each year. The performances feature talented dancers and live music by the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. The shows are held at Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 630 Hamilton Street in Vancouver.
In 2026 the production runs daily from December 17th to 20th. Exact performance times are to be confirmed.

United Voices Choir Concert
The United Voices Choir hosts a number of concerts throughout the year, including one with a Christmas theme. In 2025 their holiday concert was Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along. The show took place on December 20th at the Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church, located at 2733 West 41st Avenue in Vancouver. The same show will likely return in 2026, although exact event details are to be confirmed.

Chor Leoni Concerts
The Chor Leoni Christmas choir concerts take place at St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church at 1022 Nelson Street in Vancouver. Last year’s Christmas with Chor Leoni concerts happened on December 18th, 19th and 20th. 2026 dates are to be confirmed.

Vancouver Christmas Market Concerts
The Vancouver Christmas Market offers live entertainment every day of the season. Last year’s market featured two or three bands or musicians playing for a couple of hours per set each day. 2026 details are to confirmed.

Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir Concerts
Last year the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir held concerts in New Westminster, Surrey, Vancouver and North Vancouver. Shows took place on November 30th as well as on December 5th, 7th, 12th and 13th. 2026 dates may be similar. Exact details, however, are to be confirmed.

Songs, Strings & Steps Christmas Concerts
Calvin Dyck is the director of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra. He is also the person behind Songs, Strings & Steps and the Symphony in the Park event in the summer.
Songs, Strings & Steps’ annual Christmas concerts happened on December 12th and 13th last year. The events took place at Central Heights Church at 1661 McCallum Road in Abbotsford. 2026 details are to be confirmed.

Vancouver Oratorio Choir Concerts
The Vancouver Oratorio Choir is a group of close to 90 Christian vocalists and musicians. A couple of years ago the group performed a Christmas concert on December 1st at the Evangelical Chinese Bible Church, located at 5110 Marine Drive in Burnaby. There may be a similar concert around the same time in 2026, but with exact details to be confirmed.
Performers typically sing in both English and Mandarin. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

CPKC Holiday Train Concerts
The CPKC Holiday Train is a Christmas tradition. It’s a train that travels across Canada and the United States, making stops at various Lower Mainland cities along the way. At each stop there’s a performance by a band. Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring food or cash donations to help support local food banks.
Last year the Bare Naked Ladies performed at each stop in the province, which included Agassiz, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows on December 19th, plus Port Moody and Port Coquitlam on December 20th. The featured band and train schedule details for 2026 are to be confirmed.
The Singing Christmas Tree Concerts
The Singing Christmas Tree is an annual event that’s been taking place for over 50 years. It features around 10 concerts that include choir, vocal ensemble, orchestra, dancing and acrobatic performances at Broadway Church at 2700 East Broadway in Vancouver. Shows in 2025 ran on December 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th. 2026 dates are to be confirmed.
Admission to the concerts is usually FREE (or by donation) and tickets are available online. The event sells out though, and tickets are usually oversold, so even if you have a ticket be sure to arrive at least an hour early. Also, seating is not reserved but on a first-come first-served basis.
