Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir

The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir is an all-male choir. It has around 60 members who perform a mix of traditional Celtic music and modern songs.

Upcoming concerts in 2024 include a St. Patrick’s-themed one on March 16th at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver. See below for details.

The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir

Founded in 1980, the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir is a group of auditioned, all-male amateur singers. They are led by two professional musicians: Jonathan Quick and Karen Lee-Morlang.

The Choir performs up to 18 or so concerts a year including benefit concerts to raise money for charity. They also have a Community Outreach Program which helps those who otherwise would not have the funds to attend their performances.

The following are some of the choirs concerts in 2024. (Note: Dates and times are subject to change.)

Sunday, February 25th – a Valentine’s Day-themed concert together with the Richmond Singers at 3:00 pm at the Fraserview Mennonite Brethren Church. The address is 11295 Mellis Drive in Richmond.
Saturday, March 16th – a CelticFest concert at 7:30 pm at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Vancouver.
Saturday, April 6th, and Sunday, April 7th – at Knox United Church at 345 Pym Street in Parksville on Vancouver Island. The concerts are at 7:30 pm on the Saturday and 2:30 pm on the Sunday.

2023 Christmas Concerts

The following concerts happened during the Christmas season in 2023:

Saturday, December 2nd – with the Coastal Sound Youth Choir at 2:30 pm at the White Rock Baptist Church. The church’s address is 1657-140 Street in Surrey.
Sunday, December 3rd – Christmas Concert with Winter Harp at 2:30 pm at the Massey Theatre in New Westminster.
Tuesday, December 5th – at 7:30 pm at the Surrey Arts Centre at 13750-88th Avenue. The venue is located right beside Bear Creek Park.
Saturday, December 9th – at 2:30 pm at Christ Church Cathedral. The address is 690 Burrard Street in Vancouver.
Friday, December 15th – with the Argyle Secondary School Choir at 7:30 pm at the Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver, located at 2300 Lonsdale Avenue.
Saturday, December 16th – with Magee Secondary Choir at 7:30 pm at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, which is at 1550 West 33rd Avenue in Vancouver.

Other 2023 Concerts

Earlier in 2023 the choric also had a fundraising concert in South Delta in January and a couple of St. Patrick’s Day-themed concerts in mid-March. They also had a benefit concert for St. James Music Academy at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver in May, and their Season Finale Celebration Concert at Shaughnessy Heights United Church Vancouver in June. On November 11th, they also had a Remembrance Day Concert at South Delta Baptist Church in Tsawwassen.
