Astra Lumina is a dazzling light show display that’s making its Canadian debut in 2026 in Stanley Park. The attraction has wowed audiences around the world.

The opening date is October 22nd and tickets have been on sale since September 17th.

Astra Lumina Light Show in 2026

2026 marks the first time that the Astra Lumina night walk sets up in Vancouver. The attraction features intricate light displays, projections, and other multimedia elements synced up to a soundtrack.

Visitors walk along designated paths as they explore all of what the experience has to offer. The organizers say that most people typically spend around 45 minutes to an hour walking around and seeing everything.

If you enjoy attractions like the VanDusen Festival of Lights and Christmas Glow in Langley, then you’ll probably like Astra Lumina! It’s not Christmas-themed or happening in December, but it promises to be just as cool of an experience and in a great setting.

The company behind Astra Lumina is Moment Factory. That’s the same group that designed the Vallea Lumina night walk in Whistler. While Moment Factory is based in Montreal, this is the first time that Astra Lumina has been seen in Canada. It’s previously toured various cities in the United States as well as going global in Australia and Turkey.

Location and Admission

The night walk begins at 690 Pipeline Road in Stanley Park. That’s the location of the Stanley Park Railway. It’s also a very short walk away from the Stanley Park Bus Loop which makes it a convenient place to get to via public transit. There’s some paid parking available directly at the site, but spots are limited.

The opening night for Astra Lumina in Vancouver is October 22nd in 2026. The experience is likely to continue until at least December 31st.

As of late September, tickets to experience Astra Lumina start at about $40 for adults and $30 for children. Little ones under the age of 4 get in for free. There are also discounted tickets for students, seniors and military members, as well as bundles for families and groups.

There are no refunds, but tickets can be transferred as well as rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance.

What to Expect

Visitors to Astra Lumina can expect to see immersive, 360-degree displays of light and colour. There’s a musical soundtrack that plays throughout the walk and connects to the displays you see in front of you.

There are nine different themed areas to explore. They use the existing nature in Stanley Park and add in all sorts of multimedia elements to turn the walk into a beautiful journey.

Astra Lumina prides itself on being a very dynamic and unique experience. The lights aren’t just stationary displays. They move and dance in different ways to create what feels like a living environment. That’s done in part by using video-mapping technology which turns existing objects into canvases for various kinds of digital displays.

The walking path itself is about 1.5 km long, so it’s not too physically demanding of an experience. The attraction is meant for those of all ages (although the organizers recommend it for adults and children who are at least five years old, due to the walking involved).

Tips & Advice

Below are some tips that are good to be aware of before going to Astra Lumina.

TIP #1: The attraction is open rain or shine! Unless the weather is dangerous to be outside in, don’t expect your experience to be cancelled. Make sure to dress for the conditions and bring an umbrella if it’s raining.

TIP #2: The attraction’s organizers encourage the taking of pictures while visiting the event. That said, flash photography is not allowed. Neither is bringing a tripod or other professional equipment.

TIP #3: Make sure to arrive a little bit before the scheduled time on your ticket. Latecomers may or may not be permitted entry depending on exactly how late they are and how busy the attraction is that night.

TIP #4: Expect to spend around 45 minutes to an hour at the venue, or maybe a little longer if you stop to buy some snacks or drinks at the concession. The whole site is cashless, so make sure to have a credit or debit card available for any purchases.

Astra Lumina in Other Cities

Vancouver is the first Canadian location to host Astra Lumina, but the experience has welcomed over two million visitors in various cities across the United States and further abroad.

Astra Lumina was first staged in 2022 in Los Angeles as well as in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It then expanded to New York and Seattle in 2023, and to Dallas and Philadelphia in 2024. Istanbul in Turkey and Gold Coast, Australia, became the first cities outside of the United States to host an Astra Lumina experience in 2025. Now, Vancouver joins the ranks in 2026.
