The Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival is Vancouver’s celebration of Taiwanese and Canadian artists. It features performances, exhibitions and more in July.

The fifth annual Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival took place in downtown Vancouver on the Canada Day Weekend and the first week of July. In 2023 the festival ran from June 30th until July 8th. The exact dates for the festival in 2024 are to be confirmed.

Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival in Vancouver

The Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival is a showcase of talented artists from Taiwan and Vancouver. The series of events takes place at different locations across Metro Vancouver, and the festival as a whole is organized by the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society.

Each year the festival offers a variety of art to explore. There are often sculptures on display to view and musical performances by local artists to enjoy. Other events include traditional dance performances, movie screenings and theatrical plays.

In 2023 the festival’s dates were June 30th to July 8th. The events take place at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s North Plaza, the Vancouver Playhouse and the ANNEX.

Vancouver Taiwanese Festival

 

Festival Program

In 2023 the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Festival ran from June 30th until July 8th. There were 14 performing groups from both Canada and Taiwan. This past year’s festival featured outdoor and indoor events.

The festival’s outdoor activities took place at the Vancouver Art Gallery from June 30th to July 2nd. There were multicultural performances, workshops, art exhibitions and kids’ crafts to enjoy. Films were also available to watch online with Taiwan Cinema from July 4th to 8th.

In addition to the free activities, there were four ticketed concerts in 2023. The Taiwan Yangqin Orchestra and Orchid Ensemble of Vancouver performed at the ANNEX at 7:30 pm on June 30th. The Taiwan Yangqin Orchestra performed at the ANNEX on July 1st as well, at both 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm. Then, on July 8th, the Vancouver Pops Orchestra & Choir performed at the Vancouver Playhouse at 7:00 pm. Tickets for each concert in 2023 cost between about $10 and $20.

The festival program for 2024 is to be confirmed closer to the event date.
