Richmond Night Market

The Asian-themed Richmond Night Market was Metro Vancouver’s biggest and most amazing night market, and the largest of its kind in North America.

Unfortunately, the market is now closed for good following the 2026 season.

The Lower Mainland’s other major night market is the Shipyards Night Market in North Vancouver. The event on the North Shore takes place on Fridays between May and September. It too is exceptional, and admission is free (unlike the market in Richmond which cost about $7 for adults). The Shipyards Night Market also features nightly concerts and a beer garden.

There is also the White Rock Night Market which happens once a month on Fridays between May and September.

Richmond’s Asian Night Market

The Richmond Night Market was open from around late April to late September. The market celebrated its 26th and final year in 2026.

The Richmond Night Market was one of Metro Vancouver’s best places in general, but especially for shopping, East Asian culture and festival-style foods. It was the closest thing to an authentic Asian night market outside of Asia, and highly recommended (unless you don’t like large crowds, Asian food or having to pay a small fee to access a shopping district).

There was sometimes live entertainment on the market’s Main Stage. The performances ranged from dance to martial arts to music and more.

In 2025 a new attraction was added to the market: a zipline. The ticketed 600-foot zipline carried riders over the market stalls on four side-by-side cords. It cost $20 for kids ages 6 to 12, and $25 for everyone over 12.

When is the Market?

In 2026 the Richmond Night Market ran from April 24th until September 20th. That was the attraction’s final year as it permanently closed following the 2026 season.

In past year, the market was open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus holiday Mondays. Operating hours were from 7:00 pm until 12:00 am on Fridays, Saturdays and statutory holiday Sundays. Hours on regular Sundays and holiday Mondays were from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Admission and Location

The market featured dozens of ethnic food stalls, millions of Chinese-made trinkets and gadgets, Asian clothing and tons of energy.

Admission cost about $7 for people ages 7 to 59. Children under age 7 and adults ages 60 and up had free admission.

Visitors could also purchase a Zoom Pass. This VIP ticket allowed users to skip the line and enter through an express entry when they arrived at the market. The pass cost around $40 and was valid for six entries over the course of the season. It was also transferable so it could be shared with friends and family.

The Richmond Night Market’s address was 8351 River Road. That’s close to the Bridgeport SkyTrain station and River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.

Tips & Advice

Below is some advice to help you make the most of your visit to the Richmond Night Market (should it return in some form in the future).

TIP #1: Try to arrive early to get parking right at the site and before the lineup at the ticket counters grows long.

TIP #2: If you plan to visit the Richmond Night Market several times over the course of the summer, in addition to the Zoom Pass, consider getting a Sweet Deals Coupon Book (if they’re available). Inside the book are dozens of coupons for discounts at the market’s various retail and food vendor merchants.

TIP #3: Every opening night, the market hosted a full-day Summer Happy Hour with food under $10 and drinks under $7. These included BBQ skewers, the ramen donut, sushi taco California rolls and lemonade and lemon tea, among others.

TIP #4: If you decide to arrive later in the evening, at 10:00 pm, admission was usually reduced to $5. There may also be vendors offering late-night specials too.
