West Vancouver’s Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market

Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market

The Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market is a medium-sized market. It features food vendors and artisan products on Sundays at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver.

The market is one of three operated by the Artisan Farmers Market Society. There is also the Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market on Saturdays outside Burnaby City Hall near Deer Lake. The other market is the Brentwood Artisan Farmers Market on Sundays at The Amazing Brentwood shopping centre. All are great markets that run from around spring until the end of summer or early fall.

For full details about both markets, visit the artisanmarkets.ca website.

About the Farmers Market

The Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market is a fabulous medium-sized market with about forty vendors in a typical week.

Vendors at the market sell everything from fresh baked goods to salsas, jewellery, clothing, honey, crepes, chocolate, jams and preserves, dried foods and spirits (of the alcoholic kind). Typically there are also vendors selling specialty pet food, mini donuts, plants and flowers, and organic butcher meats.

The market at Ambleside is an “artisan farmers market,” which explains all the handcrafted food and artistic products. There are also usually a good number of vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables.

What’s especially nice about the Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market is its selection of vendor products and lack of crowds. It’s also right by Ambleside Beach which is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the Lower Mainland!

With up to forty or so vendors, it’s large enough to have a bit of everything, as well as the energy of a good market. Despite its exceptional venue, however, the Ambleside market doesn’t attract huge crowds as some of the Lower Mainland’s other top markets do. Sometimes it gets pretty busy, but usually only comfortably so (or at least that’s been the case when we’ve been). We really like this market!

Market Venue & Location

The Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market sets up in the parking lot just off Argyle Avenue. The venue is at the entrance to Ambleside Park in West Vancouver at the bottom of 13th Street a couple of blocks south of Marine Drive.

The market’s venue is one of the nicest of all markets in the Lower Mainland. The parking lot setting isn’t so spectacular, but the beach, park, ocean views and walking trails close by certainly are.

Within a two-minute walk from the market are a sandy beach, children’s playground and skate park. There is also a walking trail that’ll take you to the Park Royal Shopping Centre in one direction and John Lawson Park and Dundarave Village in the other. Ambleside is certainly one of the Lower Mainland’s nicest places to spend the day!
