Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival

The Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival is an annual arts and community event put on by the Still Moon Arts Society in Vancouver’s Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood.

2026 marks the 24th edition of the festival. It runs from September 7th to 26th.

Vancouver’s Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival

Held each year in September, the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival celebrates the Harvest Moon and fall equinox with a series of public events. Many of them are free to attend, although some are ticketed.

The festival gets its name from Renfrew Ravine Park which stretches between 22nd and 29th Avenue, next to Renfrew Street in Vancouver. Most of the festival’s events take place either in or close to the park.

The theme for the 2026 festival is “Tiny Life”. It encourages festival-goers to celebrate the plants, bugs, and other small forms of life that call the Renfrew Ravine and other areas of Vancouver home.

The festival is organized by the Still Moon Arts Society and it’s their biggest event. The society also puts on various other events throughout the year that incorporate both art and environmentalism. One of the Still Moon Arts Society’s biggest projects since its inception has been to preserve and restore the Renfrew Ravine, as well as Still Creek which flows through it.

Where and When is the Festival?

The 2026 Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival runs from September 7th to 26th. The biggest events take place on the final day.

There are over a dozen events that happen over the course of the festival. Many of them take place at Slocan Park, especially in the Slocan Community Hall. The Community Hall is just a couple blocks away from the southern tip of Renfrew Ravine Park.

Most of the events are free to attend. The organizers appreciate receiving RSVPs from those who plan to go, but walk-ups are welcome to join most of the events as well. The ones that require paid tickets typically include making arts and crafts (especially lanterns) or mooncakes.

Freeform Lantern Workshop ($50 tickets) – at the Slocan Community Hall on September 8th and 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm each day.
Voices in the Garden (free entry) – at Colour-Me-Local Dye Garden on September 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Mooncake Making Workshop ($15 tickets) – at Collingwood Neighbourhood House on September 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
Firefly Lantern Workshop ($10 tickets) – at the Slocan Community Hall on September 18th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm (in French), and from 7:30 to 8:30 pm (in English).
Tree & Leaf Walk (free entry, registration required) – at the Renfrew Community Centre on September 19th from 10:00 am to noon.
