Holiday Cheer at the Pier is a Christmas-themed community event with Santa and family-friendly activities at Port Moody’s Rocky Point Park in November.
It’s not a huge event, but it’s nice for local young families and people in the community. In 2024 it takes place on Saturday, November 30th.
Holiday Cheer at the Pier in Port Moody in 2024
Holiday Cheer at the Pier takes place on a Saturday during the Christmas season each year. In 2024 it’s on November 30th. The event happens at the Rocky Point Pier and Boat Launch (in the 2800 block of Murray Street) at Rocky Point Park.
Holiday Cheer at the Pier runs from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The event is free to attend and can attract over 1,000 people.
What to Expect
The city’s Christmas celebrations include photo opportunities with Santa Claus, craft activities and roaming entertainment. Kids can write letters to Santa and folks can also learn about the Port of Vancouver. There’s a bonfire to warm up next to as well.
Another highlight of Holiday Cheer at the Pier is the Christmas illuminations. The lights along the pier turn on for the season during the event. They look great when it’s dark out!
In 2024, the event has partnered with Santa’s Christmas Ships, which is a local group that does a series of Christmas boat parades throughout the holiday season. The first parade of 2024 is at Holiday Cheer at the Pier on November 30th.
The ships are scheduled to cruise by the pier from about 6:00 to 7:00 pm, featuring around a dozen boats decorated with bright lights and playing Christmas carols.
Last year, everyone at the Holiday Cheer at the Pier event who wanted got a complimentary cookie (while supplies lasted). Hot chocolate was available by donation as well. Exact details for 2024 are to be confirmed as of early November.
Although Holiday Cheer at the Pier is free to attend, donations of unwrapped toys for the Port Moody Fire-Rescue’s Toy Drive are greatly appreciated. Toys donated at the event go to needy families through SHARE Family & Community Services.
