Lavenderland is a Metro Vancouver flower-themed attraction. It features a few acres of purple flowers at a farm in Richmond.
TIP: Lavenderland is a great place to see fields of lavender. Another beautiful place is Lakeland Flowers in the Fraser Valley. That’s where the famous Abbotsford Tulip Festival happens earlier in the spring. After the tulip season, however, Lakeland Flowers remains open until the middle of June with peonies, lavender and other flowers to see. To learn about the flower festival in Abbotsford, visit lakelandflowers.ca. To learn about Lavenderland in Richmond, however, continue reading.

Lavenderland in Richmond
One of the Lower Mainland’s newer tourist attractions, Lavenderland takes place at Metro Vancouver’s very first lavender farm in the summer. The farm is a family-run enterprise that uses an eco-friendly approach in growing its lavender.
Visitors to Lavenderland can explore seven or so acres of purple flowers over the course of the festival. The farm features four different kinds of the flower including Super Blue, Melissa, Grosso and French varieties.
When we went, the place didn’t have outside entertainment or festival-style activities for children. There are, however, different events held at the farm in the fall and winter.
Outside of special events, Lavenderland is simply a small farm with lots of lavender. It’s pretty though, and offers interesting lavender-themed items for sale.
Richmond’s Lavenderland isn’t the only farm in the Lower Mainland where you can explore fields of the fragrant purple flower. There is also Tuscan Farm Gardens in Abbotsford, the Greendale Lavender Company in Chilliwack, and Full Bloom Lavender in Langley. For details about these other venues scroll down to near the bottom of this article.

Admission to the Lavender Field
The cost to see the flowers in 2024 is $13 on weekdays and $15 on weekends for adults. Seniors and children cost $12 regardless of the day and infants under the age of 3 are free. Parking is also free.
Throughout much of the year, even when the lavender field is closed, the site’s gift shop remains open. As of the last time we checked, its hours of operation are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Friday to Sunday during the offseason. In the summer the gift shop is open daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The gift shop is closed on all statuary holidays as well as usually closed for a week or so around Christmas and New Years.
TIP:Â While you’re in the area, an exceptional attraction to visit is the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Steveston Village. The national historic site is just 5 km from Lavenderland. Steveston Village is also a lovely place to explore.
Where and When
Lavenderland is at a farm in Richmond at 8460 Steveston Highway (which is about 3 km from the turnoff from Highway 99). It’s a 5-minute drive from the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Historic Site and the rest of picturesque Steveston Village.
Since lavender usually blooms in the summertime, the main fields are only open during the warmer months. The 2024 season began on June 17th and likely ends in September.
Not all the flowers bloom at the same time. Exact blooming details vary according to the weather, season and growing location.
The Super Blue Lavender is usually in season between April and June. It also comes back again in August. Melissa Lavender is typically at its best in both July and September. The Grosso variety is in bloom from July until September. French Lavender, meanwhile, is usually in season from June until October. Again, exact conditions vary. The above details, however, give you a rough idea of what to expect and when.

What to Expect
There is a large gravel parking lot at Lavenderland. At the entrance, at the side of the road, there is also a large modern wood market building. Lavender-themed products are sold there.
After you leave the parking lot you enter a large open building. That’s where you buy your tickets, or show them if you’ve already purchased them online. Inside they also sell a few things, like lavender-flavoured ice creams.
Just outside this second building is the field of lavender. It’s very pretty and full of rows of lavender flowers. You can walk around the field, take photos and enjoy the smells of the lavender. If you love lavender, and everything related to lavender, you might really like this place.
Other Lavender Farms
If you like places like Richmond Lavenderland, you might want to visit some farms in the Fraser Valley too.

The Lakeland Flowers in Abbotsford has flowers to see from April until mid-June. That farm’s address is 3663 Marion Road. In June there are fields full of lavender. Earlier in spring, over the course of the season, the farm also has tulips, lupins, peonies and various meadow flowers. For full details about this farm, visit lakelandflowers.ca.
It’s not a lavender farm, but Athiana Acres is another farm that grows flowers in Richmond. It also hosts special events including a weekly market in the summer.
