Surrey’s Cloverdale Rodeo on the Victoria Day Weekend

The Cloverdale Rodeo is a great family-friendly event, with cowboys competing for as much as $300,000 or more in prize money and thousands of spectators turning out to enjoy the show and midway attractions.

In a busy year as many as 100,000 people attend the fair, of which close to 20,000 watch the rodeo shows.

Cloverdale Country Fair Information

The Cloverdale Country Fair is a family-friendly event featuring a wide range of activities.

At the fair there are lumberjack shows, a Cowboy Rib Fest, country music performances and a giant midway featuring dozens of rides. There is also an Agri Zone with all sorts of animals most years including miniature donkeys, llamas, alpacas, sheep, horses, pigs and more.

You don’t have to like rodeos to enjoy all the entertainment at the fair. It’s a huge event with lots to see and do.

Country Fair Hours and Admission

Early-bird admission to the fairgrounds costs about $12. General admission during the event when purchased online costs around $20.62 plus taxes. It’s free, though, for children under age 13. The early-bird rate for midway rides is around $40 for an all-day pass for all ages ($45 for regular rate). Individual ride tickets are also available most years and parking is about $20 per vehicle.

In addition to the fair, on the Saturday there is also the Cloverdale Rodeo Parade that starts at 10:00 am. It’s free to attend.

  • Saturday, May 18th: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm
  • Sunday, May 19th: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm

Cloverdale Rodeo and Fair Admission Rates

General admission to the Cloverdale Country Fair is usually aorund $14 (plus taxes and fees) for people ages 13 and older when purchased online. Children and youth ages 12 and under are admitted for free. If you pay at the gate on the day, the cost is likely going to be another dollar or so extra.

Early-bird tickets are available online for $12 plus fees for a limited time. With general admission you get into the fairgrounds and can see the exhibits and some of the shows, but rides and the rodeo are extra.

Tickets this past year to see one of the rodeo shows cost about $25 for people ages 13 and older when purchased online (those tickets didn’t include fairgrounds admission). They also cost $10 for children between the ages of 3 and 12 (and included fairgrounds admission). If buying your tickets at the gate on the day, assuming tickets are still available (which there may not be), the cost will be a little more than that.

A Midway One-Day Ride Pass typically costs $40 (plus fees) if purchased online with early bird rates. After that, it’s between $45 and $50 depending on whether you buy in advance online or at the gate. It’s the same price for everyone and this is on top of the cost of admission to the fairgrounds. With this pass you can go on as many of the rides as you want. You can also buy individual ride tickets if you only plan to go on a few.

The rides are run by West Coast Amusements which sells individual tickets for about $1.25 each, books of 20 for $25 and books of 40 for $45. A typical ride takes between three and six tickets, with little kid rides requiring less and serious adult rides more.

Cloverdale Rodeo Mutton Busting
Mutton Busting at the Cloverdale Rodeo

Cloverdale Rodeo Details

The Cloverdale Rodeo runs the entire May long weekend, with show times once per day and twice on the Saturday.

Rodeo performances took place at the following times in 2025:

  • Friday, May 16th – at 7:30 pm (POOL A)
  • Saturday, May 17th – at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm (POOL A and then B)
  • Sunday, May 18th – at 2:00 pm (POOL B)
  • Monday, May 19th – at 2:00 pm (Finals)

Rodeo events most years include bareback riding, ladies barrel racing, bronco riding, bull riding and mutton busting. There is also a clown act.

What is mutton busting? It involves children 3 years and older, but under around 45 pounds, where the little ones try their hardest to hang on and ride a sheep for as long as they can. Fortunately, during the mutton busting, the kids wear helmets and parents can’t volunteer their children at the last minute. If you are crazy enough to want your child to ride a sheep, you have to apply in advance, and, for obvious reasons, sign a waiver.

TIP: The rodeo competition on the Monday is usually the most interesting, as it’s the finals. Tickets that day can sell out well in advance, however, so, if you want to go, book extra early.

Rodeo Admission Prices

At the Cloverdale Country Fair there is a cost to enter the fairgrounds, plus an extra charge to see the rodeo. It’s definitely worth paying for.

This past year it cost $25 for people ages 13+ to see one of the rodeo shows, in addition to their fairgrounds admission. Children (ages 3 to 12) cost $10 and little kids (ages 0 to 2) were admitted for free.

TIP: We recommend when you buy your tickets for next year’s event to purchase them in advance online. Not only will you save a couple of dollars, but you’ll skip the main lineups at the entrance and avoid being disappointed when the rodeo sells out (which it often does).

See the Cloverdale Rodeos website for tickets and more information.

Cloverdale Rodeo Parade

The Cloverdale Rodeo Parade takes place on the Saturday of the May long weekend and starts at 10:00 am.

From start to finish, the parade usually lasts for up to about two hours. It’s a great parade with lots of horses, marching bands, antique vehicles and a cowboy theme.

There are prizes for top parade entries in a number of categories. Categories usually include non-profit and commercial floats, junior and senior bands, junior and senior marching units, wheeled entries, antiques, comic entries, mounted drill teams, wheeled horse entries, and dance groups.

Cloverdale Parade Route

The Cloverdale Rodeo Parade in 2025 began in the Cloverdale Town Centre at the intersection of Highway #10 (a.k.a. 56th Avenue) and 177B Street. It headed west along Highway #10 to 176th Street. From there the procession went north to 58th Avenue and then east until 177B Street.

In previous years the route was a little longer. Instead of heading north until 58th Avenue, it used to go all the way to 60th Avenue.

TIP #1: Arrive early to get a good spot where you can watch the parade.

TIP #2: If you plan to go to the fair after the parade, consider watching from somewhere near the start. That way, when you see the end of the parade, you can race to the fair before the crowds (assuming you can walk faster than the parade).

See the Cloverdale Rodeo Website for more information about the parade.

Check out the following video to give you an idea of what to expect at the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair. The video shows scenes of the event from a few years ago.

In the video you’ll see scenes of the rides, lumberjack show, skateboarding competition and rodeo events.
