Doors Open is a free event that showcases the diverse area of Richmond. Dozens of art studios, local farms and other attractions host open houses in June.
In 2025 Doors Open ran on the weekend of June 7th and 8th. Exact dates and details for the event in 2026 are to be confirmed.
Open House Events with Doors Open Richmond
Doors Open Richmond is an annual celebration of the city’s different communities. All sorts of studios, historic sites, religious organizations and other places of interest open their doors to the public for a limited time.
People from across the Lower Mainland are free to check out all of what the city has to offer. Although Doors Open is mostly a self-guided experience, there were a couple of bus tours available in 2025. Programs at select sites may also require advanced registration.
The 18th edition of Doors Open Richmond ran on the Saturday and Sunday of June 7th and 8th.
Participating Locations
More than 50 places participated in Doors Open this past year. Some of the many highlights are listed below. Unless indicated otherwise, hours were from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Activities Near Steveston Village
- Athiana Acres – a “regenerative” farm with flowers and organic produce near Steveston Village. Located at 12800 No. 2 Road, this place was open to the public from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on June 8th.
- Britannia Shipyards – open on both the Saturday and Sunday, this historic site is made up of multiple buildings. The area offers a glimpse into the past with wooden structures, boatyards and more. The Richmond Boat Builder’s Building had special activities over the weekend too. (Note: Admission to this attraction is usually free.)
- Gulf of Georgia Cannery – a historic site that showcases the history of salmon canning at 12138 4th Avenue in Steveston Village. It was open to the public for free on June 7th.
- London Farm – operating on both days of Doors Open, this historic site is located at 6511 Dyke Road. There’s a farmhouse to explore as well as exhibits and heritage gardens.
Doors Open Activities Elsewhere In Richmond
- Effat Mirnia Art Studio – everyone could meet the artist and admire her paintings over the weekend at Art 5-8833 Hazelbridge Way.
- Richmond Fire-Rescue – a family-friendly experience that featured fire truck tours, DJ music, a water park and more. The activities happened at the Firehall at 6960 Gilbert Road from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the Saturday.
- Richmond Olympic Oval – educational tours of the sporting venue and museum at 6111 River Road. Participants learned about the facility and celebrated Canadian athletes. The 45-minute tours ran at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on both days. (Note: Pre-registration was required.)
- Weavers and Spinners Studio – demonstrations hosted by the Richmond Weavers and Spinners group at #188 – 17700 Minoru Gate. The studio was open on the Sunday and there were fun activities for all ages.

Bus Tours
There were two different bus tours that happened in 2025. Both were free, themed-experiences that required advanced registration. As of early June, the tours were fully booked, but waitlists were open.
The Sacred Spaces Bus Tour stopped at multiple religious places in Richmond between 11:45 am and 3:15 pm. The Saturday version included the Lingyen Mountain Temple, Eastern Catholic Church and Vedic Cultural Centre. Meanwhile, the Sunday version of the tour visited the Richmond Ismaili Jamatkhana, Richmond Jamia Mosque and Steveston Buddhist Temple.
The other guided experience that took place this past year was the Discover Doors Open Richmond Bus Tour. It ran from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm on both days, but the route differed. Saturday’s tour included The Sharing Farm, Effat Mirnia Art Studio and Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple. The Sunday tour, meanwhile, featured Athiana Acres, Lulu Island Winery and FT Art Studio.
