Vancouver’s Hastings Raceway

Operated by Great Canadian Entertainment which operates casinos all across the country, Hastings Racecourse & Casino offered horse races most weekends and on some holidays. You could watch live racing, cheer from the stands, grab a bite, and enjoy views of the mountains.

The races were part of TBC Teletheatre BC which also lets audiences watch and bet on races from around the world. It was a fun outdoor activity for racing fans or anyone looking for something different to do in the city.

Where and When Were the Races?

Live racing used to take place at Hastings Racecourse located at 188 North Renfrew Street in Vancouver. The venue was on the fairgrounds of the Pacific National Exhibition, which is where Playland and the PNE Fair take place in the summer.

Races usually happened on Saturdays and Sundays, and sometimes on holiday Mondays.

One of the biggest events of the season was The Cup. The curtain came down on this event on July 19th, 2025. The Cup was a special race day festival at Hastings Racecourse.
