New for 2024, the Youth Concert Showcase Series features free weekly performances leading up to the Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival in the summer.

The shows run on Sundays from May 26th to July 14th this year.

Youth Concert Showcase Series by the Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival

The Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival is an annual music festival full of free and ticketed concerts. In 2024 the festival runs from July 26th until July 28th. However, organizers of the festival also host other events earlier in the year. For example, there was a Tribute to Motown fundraiser on May 3rd at Fort Langley Community Hall. The new Youth Concert Showcase Series started up a few weeks later.

The Youth Concert Showcase Series features free live music on Sundays between May 26th and July 14th in 2024. Performers are mostly young and up-and-coming Jazz bands from Metro Vancouver. The series is a great opportunity for artists to grow, and also a wonderful chance for the public to enjoy live music. Where are the Shows?

The 2024 Youth Concert Showcase Series is held at the Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station, located at 23245 Mavis Avenue.

Short for Canadian Northern Railway, the CNR Station is an interesting place to visit. It was originally built in 1915 and used as a passenger station until around 1980. The station was then moved to its current site and slowly restored by the Langley Heritage Society. It’s now a heritage site with a CNR caboose and model railway, along with real tracks, maintenance equipment and more.

Performances take place outdoors at the venue’s garden. Everyone who attends the live music event is also welcome to join a guided tour of the Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station. Different art exhibits are also featured at the events each week.

Tips and Advice

The following suggestions should help you make the most of your time at the Youth Concert Showcase Series performances.

TIP #1: The performances are held outdoors on the grass. Organizers recommend bringing lawn chairs, blankets or something else to sit on. Don’t forget to bring a snack too.

TIP #2: While you’re there, be sure to explore the venue. Each concert includes exhibits made by local artists. Set aside some time to participate in the tour of the Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station. It’s worth checking out and also free!
