Party for the Planet is Metro Vancouver’s largest Earth Day event. It’s free and takes place on a Saturday in April outside Surrey City Hall.

In 2025 the event was on Saturday, April 26th. That was the same weekend as Party in the Park which is a free event at Central Community Park in Chilliwack.

Party for the Planet Earth Day Celebrations in Surrey

At Party for the Planet there is a tree and plant sale and other vendor stalls, crafts for children, free concerts and many ways to have fun while celebrating planet earth.

Party for the Planet is an exceptional event for families, with kids’ concerts as well as entertainment for adults.

It’s a fairly big event and one of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the Lower Mainland. In recent years up to around 20,000 people attend on the day.

Other events happening in Surrey include the Royal Canadian International Circus with shows at Guildford Town Centre on May 8th to 11th. It’s also in Richmond from May 15th until the 19th. Also happening in Surrey is the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair on the Victoria Day Long Weekend. In the summer there is also Canada Day on July 1st at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre and the Surrey Fusion Festival at Holland Park.


 

When and Where is Party for the Planet

In 2025 Party for the Planet was on Saturday, April 26th. This year’s event ran from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm at Surrey Civic Plaza at 13450-104th Avenue.

 

What to Expect at the Party

There are usually stalls selling things and promoting different community organizations and services. There are also live shows taking place throughout the day in different locations.

Scheduled performances last year were with Merlin the Magician for children and young families, as well as various artists for adults, plus lots of other entertainment. The full list of performers is further below.

Most years exhibits and displays at the Party for the Planet event include a climbing wall and a hockey zone tent. This year, there’s also a sustainable marketplace, giveaways, and more.

Party for the Planet is a great family-friendly event, and it’s FREE.

Party for the Planet Entertainment

There were four stages at Party for the Planet last year. Exact details on the schedule were subject to change. 2025’s performers included Annabella Egwalu, Colin Sankey, Higher Ground Dance Company, Jim Hopson Duo, Pat Calihou, Perelandra Waddle, Tess Anderson and many more.

Below are some suggestions to help you make the most of your experience at Surrey’s big April event.

TIP #1: Party for the Planet is an Earth Day celebration so leave the car at home and take public transit if you can. The planet will love you for it, plus roads will be busy and parking extremely limited.

TIP #2: Party for the Planet takes place on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, which is a week after Surrey’s largest event of the year – the Surrey Vaisakhi Parade. If you want free food and an incredible cultural experience, then check that out too.
