About Holland Park

Holland Park is a fairly large urban park that’s open daily from dawn to dusk. It is 10 hectares (or 25 acres) in size and features large expansive lawns, attractive flower gardens, a small children’s play area and a water fountain.

Holland Park is a nice place for a picnic or to stroll around, and to escape to after shopping nearby. While it’s not a huge park with lots of amenities (like Surrey’s Bear Creek Park or Vancouver’s even bigger Stanley Park), it’s a fair size with some pretty areas.

Events at Holland Park

The main attractions at Holland Park are the events that are held there. The park hosts a number of major annual events, as well as outdoor movies and the occasional live music performance in the summer.

Regular events at Holland Park over the course of the year include the following:

  • FVDED in the Park – a music festival popular with the younger crowd in early July.
  • Surrey Fusion Festival – a fairly large multicultural community event in late July.
  • Surrey Fest Downtown – a medium-sized community festival in August or September.
  • Sounds of Summer Music Series – free outdoor musical performances at different Surrey parks each week in July and August (including at least once each summer at Holland Park).
  • Movies at Holland Park – a series of outdoor movies take place on a number of Saturday evenings in the summer most years.

Tips & Advice

Below are some tips and additional information to help you make the most of your visit to the park.

TIP #1: Although Holland Park is conveniently located near a SkyTrain station and different shopping amenities, what’s not so convenient is its parking. There is parking with access off King George Boulevard, but there’s not a lot, and definitely not enough when there’s an event going on. There’s also a bit of on-street parking along 98b Avenue and 134th Street.

TIP #2: Many people combine their trips to Holland Park with a visit to the Central City Shopping Centre. It’s the second largest mall in Surrey, after Guildford Town Centre, and has around 130 stores. There’s tons of parking at Central City, although technically you’re only supposed to park there while you’re shopping.

TIP #3: Unless you also plan to go shopping for lots of things at Central City, the best way to get to Holland Park is via public transit. As mentioned above, the King George SkyTrain Station is across the street a block or two south of 100th Avenue. Surrey Central Station, meanwhile, is just a short distance from the north side of the shopping mall.
