What to do this Weekend in Vancouver

Side Street Blossoms at Vaisakhi

This coming weekend promises to be eventful in the Vancouver region. There is a major ski festival, Punjabi New Year celebrations, the Sun Run and more.

What to do April 17th to 19th in the Lower Mainland

What’s happening in the Lower Mainland the weekend of April 17-19, 2015? There is the World Ski and Snowboard Festival taking place up at Whistler, hundreds of thousands of people will be celebrating the Punjabi New Year in Surrey with the Vaisakhi Parade and the Vancouver Sun Run is on Sunday. And the weather forecast looks like we’ll be in for some sunshine! Can’t wait! What an exciting and eventful weekend ahead!

World Ski and Snowboard Festival

The Whistler World Ski & Snowboard Festival is on presently and runs until Sunday, April 19. The snow conditions are great at the top of the hill, with Whistler-Blackcomb receiving lots of fresh snow over the last number of days. What better time for some great spring skiing!

Every afternoon up at Whistler there are free afternoon concerts in the village plaza, and a major concert on the Saturday night. Lots of ski and snowboard tricks to watch on the mountain too.

Vaisakhi Parade and Celebrations

Over a quarter of a million people are expected to show up in Surrey on Saturday to take part in the Surrey Vaisakhi Parade and Celebration. We attended the Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade last week and it was amazing. You won’t want to miss the one in Surrey! The main attraction is just seeing all the hundreds of thousands of people in the street, many in beautiful colourful traditional Punjabi and Sikh clothing. Lots of free food given away too!
