Related to Vancouver’s Tap and Barrel chain of restaurants, Brewhall is a beer hall on 2nd Avenue near Olympic Village. It’s also a craft brewery.
Brewhall Beer Hall in Vancouver
The Tap and Barrel chain of restaurants has five locations. They are in Olympic Village, at the Vancouver Convention Centre, in North Vancouver’s Shipyards District and on Granville Island (at the Bridges restaurant location). The newest location is in South Surrey at 207-3211 152nd Street (which is near the intersection of 152nd and Highway #99, about 5 km north of White Rock). Brewhall is the sixth location in the chain, but the only one without the Tap and Barrel name.
Unlike the five Tap and Barrel restaurants, Brewhall is more of a bar and less of a restaurant. It has its own menu, and its venue is more basic. The main floor of the bar is wide open and with a high ceiling. There are giant TV screens on the walls, arcade games along one wall, a bar in the middle, and a mix of high tables and long tables. Upstairs there is an area with more seating. It’s the long tables that give it the beer hall feel, plus the look of the wood building with its high ceiling.
Brewhall is a cool place, but slightly simpler and less fancy than its Tap and Barrel cousins. It’s also a bit less expensive.
Where is the Brewhall Bar and Restaurant?
Brewhall is located in what looks like an old heritage building. In fact, it’s kind of new, but also kind of old. It’s not an old building. More than 80% of the structure, however, is made of reclaimed and recycled materials, some of which is old.
The venue’s address is #97 East 2nd Avenue. It’s a block or two west of Main Street and a couple of blocks south of Vancouver’s Olympic Village.
Brewhall Brewery & Craft Beers
The Brewhall brewery makes a wide variety of craft beers on site at its 2nd Avenue location. They include pale ales, IPAs, sours, Kölsch ales, pislners, lagers and other kinds of craft beer. You can buy their beers by the can, or on tap at the Brewhall and various Tap and Barrel restaurants. It’s also for sale at some liquor stores.
