The Craft Beer Market
Launched in 2011 in Calgary, Alberta, the Craft Beer Market is a trendy casual dining establishment. Their restaurants focus on local craft beers and they serve a variety of pub-type foods.
While the chain is originally from Alberta, they also have locations in British Columbia and Ontario. In Vancouver there is the Craft Beer Market location at Olympic Village. Since the spring of 2021, there is a second one at English Bay Beach. The company also has a couple of places in Calgary and one each in Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, Victoria and Kelowna (in BC’s interior).
Locations & Hours
The chain’s main restaurant in Vancouver is in Olympic Village at 85 West 1st Avenue. It’s on the opposite side of the plaza from the Tap & Barrel Restaurant and a 4-minute walk from Brewhall (both of which also specialize in craft beers). The chain’s Olympic Village restaurant is in the Domtar Salt Building which is a heritage building from the early 1930s. It’s an impressive venue and makes a great beer hall.
The Craft Beer Market’s newest location is in English Bay. The building there was previously occupied by the Boathouse Restaurant until 2018. The new restaurant’s address is 1795 Beach Avenue. It’s across the street from the Cactus Club Cafe and it overlooks the waterfront.
Opening hours at both locations are similar, but they vary depending on the day. For the most part, both locations open after 10:00 am. They typically remain open until at least midnight each day.
Food offerings at the Craft Beer Market Restaurant & Bar include traditional pub-style dishes. Expect to see appetizers such as chicken wings and nachos, and meals like pizzas, burgers, tacos and mac and cheese.
Craft Beer & Other Drinks
With its focus on local craft beer, it’s no surprise that the Craft Beer Market serves a large variety of brews. The Olympic Village location has 140 taps and the English Bay location is similar.
In addition to its extensive collection of beers, the restaurant also offers a selection of other drinks. Folk can choose from cider, wine, cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages like soda. Craft beer, however, is their specialty.
Happy Hour at the Craft Beer Market
Happy Hour at the restaurants happens every day of the week. It runs from Monday to Saturday between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. From Mondays to Thursdays it also runs from 9:00 pm until closing time. Happy Hour takes place all day on Sundays as well (or at least that was the case the last time we checked).
The Happy Hour menu includes discounts on food and beer plus daily specials on various items. Food on the Happy Hour menu ranges in price from around $5 up to $25. Drink specials are typically around $5 to $10, but sometimes more.

Other similar venues in Vancouver include the Tap & Barrel and Brewhall (both of which also have locations at Olympic Village).
The Brewhall and Tap & Barrel’s Shipyards location in North Vancouver are beer hall-style venues, so similar to the theme and appearance of the Craft Beer Market’s Olympic Village location. The Tap & Barrel’s Olympic Village and Convention Centre locations, meanwhile, are more similar to what the Craft Beer Market’s English Bay location will probably be like.
Another great place near the Craft Beer Market’s Olympic Village location is Mahony & Sons at Stamps Landing. It’s a classy Irish-themed pub that’s right on the water and just a 15-minute walk away via the False Creek Seawall. The views from its patios are stunning! Mahony’s also often has live music on weekends.
