Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market

Burnaby Farmers Market

The Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market used to take place in the parking lot at Burnaby City Hall not far from Deer Lake Park on Saturdays.

Note: The market won’t be happening at its City Hall location in 2026. It will likely still happen, but at a new location that is yet to be confirmed.

The market usually runs from early May until the last Saturday in October. Exact times are to be confirmed.

HOLIDAY HIVE MARKET

In addition to its regular summer market, the Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market also usually hosts a Christmas-themed market each year. In the past, the special event took place at the same venue as the farmers market. However, this was not the case last year.

New for last year, the Holiday Hive Market was a collaborative event hosted by the Artisan Farmers Market Society and Metropolis at Metrotown. The Holiday Hive Market ran on the weekend of December 6th and 7th outside the shopping mall. Hours on both days were from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Details about the market’s Christmas event in 2026 are to be confirmed.

Burnaby Farmers Market

The Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market is one of three markets operated by the Artisan Farmers Market Society. Another one is the Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market which takes place in West Vancouver on Sundays, running from May 3rd until October 25th in 2026. There is also the Brentwood Artisan Farmers Market. It takes place at The Amazing Brentwood Mall and runs from June 7th to August 30th in 2026.

Last year, the Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market was at 4949 Canada Way. The market set up in the north parking lot outside Burnaby City Hall. The venue was accessed off Deer Lake Parkway just before it connects with Canada Way. As stated earlier, organizers are to confirm the market’s new location for 2026.

The summer market typically runs on Saturdays from May until the end of October. Regular hours of operation are between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Last year’s market took place from May 10th until October 18th. There was also a Halloween-themed market on October 25th. Exact dates and times for the 2026 market are to be confirmed.

About the Burnaby Farmers Market

The Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market is a medium to large-sized market. It has up to around 40 to 50 vendors each week in the summer. It’s not as busy as some of the Lower Mainland’s other main markets though. Consequently, there aren’t normally big crowds. It’s a really nice market.

Vendors at the Burnaby market include the usual selection of local farmers with their fruits and vegetables. There are also small craft-brewed distillers, artisans, artists, bakers, and makers of homemade goods and preserves. There is also usually a musician providing live entertainment.

Visit the artisanmarkets.ca website for full details about all three markets.

What to Expect

The Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market is an exceptional market. There is a good variety of vendors and the quality of the products is high. It’s an “artisan farmers” market, so there are both artisan vendors and farmers. The artisan vendors, though, are mostly food-related, not art and crafts.

At the market there are a few artisan stalls with things like soaps and handmade art. Most of the artisans, however, sell things like jams, sauces, baked goods and ethnic foods. This makes the market a perfect place to pick up picnic ingredients before heading to the park. It’s also where you’ll find treats for yourself and unique gifts for friends.

A nice thing about the Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market is its size. The market is large enough that you can find a great selection of quality goods to choose from. It’s not too big, though, that you have to fight through the crowds and live in fear of getting separated from your children.

There was also good parking available at its former location. A couple of Metro Vancouver’s top attractions were also close by – beautiful Deer Lake Park and the historic Burnaby Village Museum. We hope the new location for the market in 2026 offers the same level of parking availability and amenities close by.

Burnaby Market Video

Check out this video to get a really good idea of what to expect at the Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market. The video shows scenes of the market from a couple of years ago.

As you’ll see, it’s a good-sized market with vendors selling a wide range of products, from fresh vegetables to cookies, jams and even craft-distilled spirits. There is also live music. On the day we visited and did our filming, the musician was Sue Breton. Doesn’t her music make the shopping experience look lovely?

Attractions in the Area

Deer Lake Park is one of the Lower Mainland’s best city parks. It boasts walking trails around the lake, a sandy beach, beautiful gardens, historic Hart House and the Shadbolt Centre for the Performing Arts.

Burnaby Village is a great free outdoor museum that’s open seasonally with a selection of heritage buildings and a restored 1912 carousel.

Both Deer Lake Park and the Burnaby Village Museum are wonderful places to visit. We recommend them both.
