Remembrance Day in Burnaby in 2025
Two main ceremonies mark Remembrance Day in Burnaby. One in North Burnaby at Confederation Park and the other in South Burnaby at Bonsor Park. Both events take place on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, and begin with parades leading to each cenotaph.
North Burnaby Ceremony & Parade
The Remembrance Day ceremony in North Burnaby is hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148 at the cenotaph in Confederation Park.
A parade begins at 10:00 am from near the McGill Library, located at 4595 Albert Street. Veterans, cadets, military officers, police, and other participants march down Albert Street before turning onto Alpha Avenue and finishing at the park, where the service follows.
The ceremony at the Confederation Park Cenotaph features the singing of “O Canada,” prayers, wreath-laying, and a two-minute silence. The service concludes with closing remarks and a march off. It is a moving tribute that draws hundreds of attendees each year. Typically, around 500 people attend.
The Cenotaph is located on Penzance Drive, almost across the street from the Burnaby Central Railway, which is located at 120 North Willingdon Avenue.
South Burnaby Ceremony & Parade
The Remembrance Day event in South Burnaby happens not far from Metropolis at Metrotown. Similar to the North Burnaby event, it typically features both a parade and a traditional ceremony.
In South Burnaby, the service is hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #83. It takes place at the cenotaph in Bonsor Park, located near the intersection of Nelson Avenue and Imperial Street.
The parade begins at 10:00 am on November 11, 2025, from Fire Hall 3, located at 6511 Marlborough Avenue. The parade marches to the park, where the ceremony begins shortly after.
Like the North Burnaby ceremony, attendees can expect the traditional elements — prayers, music, wreath-laying, and a two-minute silence — to honour those who have served.
City Facility Closures
Burnaby City Hall and most arts facilities are closed on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, for Remembrance Day. Some recreation centres remain open — check the City of Burnaby‘s website for individual facility schedules.
