Port Coquitlam Car Free Day is a new event in the Tri-Cities area. It features live music, local food, games and other activities near the end of the summer.
In 2023 the Port Coquitlam event debuted on Sunday, September 10th, which was the day after Commercial Drive Car Free Day and the week after the Labour Day Long Weekend.

Port Coquitlam Car Free Day
Car Free Days is a series of outdoor festivals across Metro Vancouver. New for 2023 is the event in Port Coquitlam. The first ever Car Free Day event in the city took place in September, about one week before Main Street Car Free Day in Vancouver.
Similar to other events in the series, Car Free Day in Port Coquitlam is a day full of free family-friendly activities. Presented in part by the Downtown Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association, the event includes live entertainment, community booths, food vendors and electric vehicle displays. Best of all? Admission is free!
When and Where?
The inaugural edition of Port Coquitlam Car Free Day took place on Sunday, September 10th. It ran from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm, so for most of the day.
The event is held along McAllister Avenue in Port Coquitlam. Sticking with the theme of Car Free Day, organizers encourage everyone to leave their cars at home and use a different mode of transportation.
What to Expect
As with other Car Free Day events in the Lower Mainland, expect to see people of all ages walking and enjoying the fresh air along with all of the activities on offer. McAllister Avenue is closed to traffic for the day. The only cars you’ll see in the area are the electric vehicles that are on-site to check out.
Be sure to attend Port Coquitlam’s Car Free Day event with an empty stomach as there are all sorts of local foods and beverages available for purchase. Also expect to see market vendors and community booths with representatives to talk to. Games and activities at the event include miniature golf, an obstacle course and an area for bicycle tricks.
The other big component of Car Free Day Port Coquitlam is the live entertainment. Performances take place on two different stages throughout the day. As of late August, the exact lineup of performers was to be confirmed.

THE CIRCUS WAS IN TOWN!
The American Crown Circus Circo Osorio was in the Tri-Cities from October 19th to 30th in 2023. It was at Coquitlam Centre. When it plays in town, this circus is a great, family-friendly attraction that’s also very affordable. Up to two young children can get in for free per paying adult!
