Remembrance Day in Coquitlam
Coquitlam holds its annual Remembrance Day event on November 11th near Blue Mountain Park. The park is at 975 King Albert Avenue. Ceremonies at the Cenotaph usually follow a parade.
Over 1,000 people attend the event each year. Organizers encourage everyone attending to wear a poppy as a mark of respect. There are also usually at least a couple of military vehicles on display for people to check out.
The parade itself isn’t too long. It starts at Como Lake School, just a block down the road. Up to 100 veterans, RCMP officers and cadets participate in the procession. There is also a small marching band.

Ceremony Time and Location
Coquitlam’s traditional Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade takes place on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. The parade starts from Como Lake Middle School (1121 King Albert Avenue) at 10:30 am, and continues along Winslow Avenue to the Blue Mountain Park Cenotaph (975 King Albert Street). This is the final stop where the official ceremony is held.
The event is hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 263 and welcomes veterans, RCMP officers, cadets, local dignitaries, and community members wishing to pay their respects. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of veterans are also welcome to participate.
The service typically includes prayers, the laying of wreaths, and the singing of O Canada. Remembrance Day is a chance for the community to honour and pay their respects to those who have fought for our country.
Coquitlam Remembrance Day
Beyond the main ceremony, Coquitlam offers creative and meaningful ways to honour veterans.
There is Poppy Painting along Veteran’s Way, where you can stop by Blue Mountain Park from November 2nd to 10th to paint a large poppy as part of a community display. People can also leave a message of remembrance tied with a yellow ribbon.
A similar Poppy Painting event happens at Spirit Square on Thursday, November 6th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This event takes place across from City Hall, where visitors can add their painted poppy to the outdoor display.
The community is invited to enjoy the Dogwood Pavilion Remembrance Day Concert. This event is a live music performance by the Vancouver Naval Veterans Band on Wednesday, November 5th, from 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm.
The Blue Mountain Park Cenotaph and rolls of honour at Coquitlam City Hall are open year-round for quiet reflection.
