Fireworks at Cypress

The BC Family Day Holiday Weekend is celebrated in February at Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain with kid-friendly activities and fireworks at night.

In 2026 Family Day is on the Monday of February 16th. There are special activities throughout the long weekend at Cypress.

Note: Whether there will be fireworks at Cypress on the Family Day Weekend in 2026 is to be determined. It looks like there probably won’t be.

Family Day Weekend at Cypress

All sorts of family-friendly activities take place at throughout the weekend across the Lower Mainland during this public holiday.

Over the Family Day long weekend, some (but not all) ski hills in the region usually offer some kind of special deal, including free or discounted ski and other snow sport passes.

Cypress Mountain has sometimes offered ticket discounts on the Family Day long weekend for children in the past. Whether this happens again in 2026 is to be confirmed. They might or might not.

In previous years, Cypress Mountain offered an assortment of special family-friendly activities as well as discounted passes for children on the Family Day long weekend. Skiing, snowshoeing and tubing tickets at Cypress were 50% off for children on the Friday evening and all day on the Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday of the February long weekend.

Unfortunately, things aren’t quite the same these days. There are still some special activities that take place over the long weekend, but there aren’t the same level of discounts available. There also used to be fireworks.

Family Day Weekend Schedule

There aren’t a ton of specific details about the event schedule for the 2026 Family Day long weekend at Cypress Mountain. It looks like there is a magic show at Cypress Creek Lodge on the holiday Monday at 1:00 pm. After that, children’s entertainer Peter G&G performs in the Heritage Room. There is also face painting and other activities, but likely only on the Monday this year.

One major thing that happened on the Sunday last year was the fireworks display at the patio up at the top of the mountain. The fireworks blasted off at 7:00 pm. From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on all three days of the long weekend you could enjoy activities like face painting and balloon animal making.

In recent years there have been other notable things happening on the mountain. For example, in 2024, the Tube Park had a special theme on the Saturday and Monday. There were also a series of local music artists performing over the course of the three days.

Cypress will still be a fun place to be on the Family Day weekend in 2026. It will likely just be a little quieter than it has been in previous years.
