Coal Harbour Light Installations
The Destination Downtown festival lights up the Coal Harbour Seawall with more than 100 trees that glow nightly, cycling through themed looks at set times.
Large illuminated animal sculptures also appear in Coal Harbour. Last year, there was a whale at Canada Place, a grizzly bear and beaver outside the Vancouver Convention Centre, and a heron and squirrel in Cardero Park.
Last year displays ran from November 28th until early February. The 2025/2026 dates are expected to be similar, but are to be confirmed.

Ferris Wheel at the Vancouver Art Gallery
The Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting happens annually outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. In 2025, the 76-foot tree lights up on Friday, November 28th, at 6:00 pm.
Alongside the Christmas tree, the Destination Downtown Ferris wheel operates from December 2nd to January 3rd, with rides priced at $7, but free on Tuesdays.
In 2025 the Ferris wheel operates most Tuesdays to Thursdays from 3:00 to 9:00 pm and on Fridays from 3:00 until 10:00 pm. On Saturdays it runs from noon to 10:00 pm and on Sundays from noon until 8:00 pm. On Mondays the Ferris wheel is closed. It’s also closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On Boxing Day it operates from 3:00 until 10:00 pm and on New Year’s Eve from 3:00 until 8:00 pm.
