Vancouver Canucks Hockey in 2023

Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks are the professional NHL ice hockey team that plays home games at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Below is their 2022 to 2023 season schedule.

The 2022-23 season is a regular 82-game schedule for each team. It began in October and like last season, fans are back in the stands.

Canucks Ice Hockey Team

Part of the Western Conference of the NHL, the Canucks play ice hockey at Rogers Arena. Tickets range from about $55 up to hundreds of dollars. If you want to see great ice hockey, then Rogers Arena during a Canucks game is the place to be.

During the beginning of 2021-22 season, COVID-19 vaccine passports and photo identification were required. Fans were also asked to wear masks during games (except while eating and drinking). These safety precautions were all lifted in March of 2022, meaning that things are back to normal for the 2022-23 season.

Canucks 2022-23 Season Update

The first half of the 2022-23 season has been underwhelming. Despite a number of exciting offseason moves, the team is out of a playoff spot as of early January.

On paper, the team upgraded offensively in the summer but the only significant change to the team’s defence has been acquiring Ethan Bear. The team is scoring at a high rate this season but are also allowing the second most goals in the league. Part of that is due to lackluster goaltending, but there seems to be bigger problems as well. To make things more confusing, Bo Horvat is having the best offensive season of his career, but his future as a Canuck is unclear. The captain’s contract expires at the end of this season.

If management wants the team to make the playoffs, things aren’t going well so far. If rebuilding for the future is the goal, high-value assets will likely be moved soon.

Canucks 2021-22 Season Update

After a disappointing 2020-21 season, the Canucks made a number of bold offseason moves. On paper, the team looked much improved and many fans expected them to return to the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the on-ice product told a different story. Less than a third of the way into the season, the Canucks only had 8 wins in 25 games and sat at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings. As a result, former head coach Travis Green was replaced by Bruce Boudreau and General Manager Jim Benning was replaced by Jim Rutherford too.

The upheaval to the team’s coaching staff and management group revitalized the players, as the Canucks then went on their longest winning streak of the season. However, their poor start means that making the playoffs is still going to prove to be a massive challenge, but there’s no denying that the team is heading in a new and exciting direction.

Other Information

Vancouver’s other main hockey team is the Vancouver Giants, who are in a lower league than the Canucks. They play at the Langley Events Centre and their games are also exciting to watch, and cheaper.
