Chor Leoni's The Big Roar

Chor Leoni is an award-winning Vancouver-based choir that performs concerts at venues like St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church and UBC’s Chan Centre.

The 2026/2027 season then starts in November and continues until May. There are four different events this season, beginning with a Remembrance Day concert on November 11th. There’s then Christmas with Chor Leoni from December 17th to 19th, Bound Away on March 5th and 6th, and The Big Roar on May 7th and 8th.

Chor Leoni’s Choir Concerts

Chor Leoni was founded in 1992 by Diane Loomer, a choral instructor who later received the Order of Canada. In the decades since, Chor Leoni has won numerous accolades including the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence in 2019. That award is one of the highest honours such a choir can receive.

The exact number of singers changes depending on the season, but there can be upwards of around 60 vocalists or more, mostly male. The choir entertains thousands of audience members over the course of each season.

2026/2027 Season Concerts

Chor Leoni’s in-person concert schedule starts in November and runs until May each year.

Below is the schedule for this season in the last half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. All of the concerts take place at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church at 1022 Nelson Street in downtown Vancouver.

Remembrance Day Concert – a special choral tribute on November 11th, 2026. There are two performances at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Christmas with Chor Leoni – a festive series of holiday concerts that happen on December 17th, 18th and 19th, 2026. There’s one show at 7:30 pm on the 17th, two shows at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on the 18th, and three shows at 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on the 19th.
Bound Away – Chor Leoni and La Nef Musical Company join forces to sing sea shanties in a pair of performances on March 5th and 6th, 2027. Both nights feature a 7:30 pm concert with there also being an afternoon show at 3:30 pm on the 6th.
The Big Roar – a massive co-operative night of music featuring Chor Leoni, MYVoice, the Emerging Choral Artist Program, and more. Over 250 singers take part in this performance on May 7th (7:30 pm) and 8th (4:30 pm), 2026.

Also, in addition to the above, in July 2026 there was Chor Leoni: A Night in Yaletown. It was a free outdoor concert at Helmcken Plaza in Yaletown. The show began at 8:00 pm and featured three 20-minute sets with breaks. Whether this happens again in the future is to be determined.

PopCappella Concerts

Chor Leoni sings primarily classical music. In the spring, however, the choir sometimes has special performances featuring a blend of choral and pop music.

There doesn’t appear to be a PopCappella concert in 2026/27. There was one last season, which included the following songs:
