United Voices Choir (UVC) Concerts in Vancouver

The United Voices Choir is a large choir based in Vancouver. The diverse group consists of about 50+ members, including artistic director Dr. Greg Caisley. There are singers of varying levels of training and experience, all of which have earned a spot by auditioning.

The choir usually rehearses weekly from September to May. They host a few concerts as well, including one in late spring, one or two in the fall and another in early winter (during the Christmas holiday season).

Rather than focusing on smaller pieces, the choir takes on larger choral music. They are often accompanied by soloists and orchestras that make their concerts extra special.

UVC Spring Concerts in 2026

The United Voices Choir hosts a pair of concerts in the spring. Last year it was REJOICE! and the performances featured Handel’s Coronation Anthems and Dixit Dominus. In 2026, the concerts instead showcase a couple of classics, with one by Mozart and the other by Schubert.

The first concert in 2026 takes place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 9th, at St. Andrews-Wesley in downtown Vancouver. The second happens at 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 10th, at Pacific Spirit United Church, which is also in Vancouver, at 2195 West 45th Avenue. Both concerts feature Mozart’s “Great Mass” in C Minor as well as Schubert’s Mass in A Flat Major.

Mozart’s monumental Great Mass in C minor (1783) is a dazzling fusion of styles, drawing on the Baroque brilliance of Bach and Handel. It also draws on the dramatic flair of Italian opera. Soaring solo arias, powerful choruses, intricate fugues, and richly textured orchestration create a work that is at once joyful and profoundly spiritual.
Schubert’s Mass in A-flat major (1822) is deeply poetic and emotionally charged. It weaves soloists and choir into a glowing tapestry of sound. The piece’s bold harmonies and expressive melodies draw us into a world of beauty and spiritual intensity.

General admission for the concerts in 2026 costs $37.66 for adults including online fees. Tickets for youth ages 17 and under cost $17.40.

UVC Fall and Winter Concerts (in 2025)

The United Voices Choir had a couple of concerts in late 2025, and it will likely do so again in 2026. Their final two concerts last year were on November 21st and December 20th. See below for details about each of them.

Duruflé Requiem (on November 21st, 2025)

The Duruflé Requiem was a concert on Friday, November 21st, at Pacific Spirit United Church. The church’s address is 2195 West 45th Avenue in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood. The concert included works by both Maurice Duruflé and Morten Lauridsen.

Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986) was a French composer and organist. His famous Requiem (1947) is a masterpiece full of power, beauty and intensity. At this concert, the 55-member choir is accompanied by baritone David Rosborough, mezzo-soprano Melanie Adams, and David Poon on organ.

This concert also included three luminous short works by the American choral composer Morten Lauridsen. They were Introit from Lux Aeterna, Ave Maria, and Sure on this Shining Night. During this part of the concert the United Voices Choir was accompanied by the choir’s own talented pianist, Danielle Lee.

The concert lasted for about two hours and tickets cost $32 for adults and $15 for children ages 18 and under.

Sing-Along Messiah Concert (on December 20th, 2025)

Sing-Along Messiah is the United Voices Choir’s annual Christmas-themed concert. Last year it took place on Saturday, December 20th. It happened at Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church at 2733 West 41st Avenue in Vancouver. The concert will likely take place around the same time in 2026, although exact details are to be confirmed.

George Frideric Handel (1685 – 1759) was a German-British Baroque composer. He was born in Germany but moved to London England in his late twenties. Handel composed Messiah in 1741. It’s an English-language oratorio which has become one of the western world’s most famous pieces of music, played traditionally around Christmas time, but also at Easter.

Sing-Along Messiah with the United Voices Choir is a special sing-along event featuring Handel’s most famous piece of music. Running for about 2.5 hours, the concert is a popular holiday season tradition with the Hallelujah Chorus and other great melodies. Soloists at the concert last year included Dory Hayley (soprano), Cameron Killick (baritone), Erik Kallo (countertenor) and Jonathan Michel (tenor). Tickets cost $32 for adults and $15 for youth ages up to 18.
