Broadway Across Canada in Vancouver
For those who want to see Broadway musicals without flying all the way to New York, Broadway Across Canada provides an opportunity to do so. The company is a subsidiary of Broadway Across America, which tours a number of American cities with similar shows. The Canadian company visits around 10 cities from British Columbia to Quebec.
The 2024/25 season includes seven different productions. The season opened with Come From Away in September and it closes with Disney’s The Lion King in the summer. Continue reading further below for the full list of upcoming shows.
Location and Cost
The venue for all of the shows is the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 630 Hamilton Street. It’s one of the top performing arts theatres in Vancouver. The theatre has a total capacity of a little under 3,000 people.
The shows put on by Broadway Across Canada are all well-known and critically-acclaimed performances. Therefore, tickets are not cheap. Depending on the show and the date, the cheapest seats can sometimes be as low as $35 to $65. You might not always be able to find seats in that price range, however. Tickets can range up to around $300 for the best seats in the house.
Depending on the time of year, you can also purchase a Broadway Across Canada subscription that includes tickets to three or four shows at a discounted price. While they were available, subscription packages for the 2024/25 season started at about $220 for four shows. The most expensive package was $700 and included the best seats in the venue. Subscription prices for the 2025/26 season are to be confirmed.
2025 Shows
The 2024/25 season opened in September of 2024 with Come From Away. The Book of Mormon showed in November, followed by Beetlejuice in January. The rest of the season runs until September of 2025. Remaining show titles and their respective dates are listed below.
- Tina: The Tina Turner Musical – a biographical show about rock singer Tina Turner, showing her life from her childhood in Tennessee to her superstardom in the music industry. The performances are from March 25th to 30th, 2025.
- SIX – originally performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, this comedy show tells the story of the six wives of King Henry VIII, in the form of them entering in a singing competition. The show runs May 13th to 18th, 2025.
- Riverdance – part of the 30th anniversary tour for this hit production, Riverdance brings traditional Irish music and dance to the stage. Check it out from June 10th to 15th, 2025.
- Disney’s The Lion King – one of the most successful shows in Broadway history, The Lion King is a theatrical version of the famous animated movie. It plays from August 20th to September 14th, 2025.
