What the Frock Productions produces a wide variety of shows. Some are family-friendly and others are for adults only. The company puts on multiple performances every month. You can also hire them for your own private event. They also offer drag makeup workshops.
Upcoming Drag Shows & Other Events
Below are some of the events put on by What the Frock Productions in the first half of 2025. The shows feature drag queens, drag kings and drag things.
(Note: The performances take place at various venues. With the ones at the Legion on Commercial Drive, interestingly, you can take outside food, but not drinks. Beverages you have to buy at the bar. Also, all shows at the Legion start at 8:00 pm and finish at around 9.30. The second performance on the same night at the Legion runs from around 10:00 pm until closing, which is around 11:30 or midnight. The times do vary a bit, though, based on audience attendance, the numbers of performers, and other factors.)
Murder is a Drag (with Vancouver Mysteries)

Vancouver Mysteries is a local company that offers outdoor, escape room-style games in the streets of downtown Vancouver. They also offer dinner-theatre shows sometimes, including Murder is a Drag which is a wedding-themed, murder-mystery show that takes place at the Water Street Cafe in Gastown. Shows in early 2025 include ones on February 7th and 9th as part of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival.
NOTE: Murder is a Drag is a Vancouver Mysteries event, not a What the Frock Productions event. That being said, the mother of the bride in the Rhinestones Are Forever Murder is a Drag show is Phyllis Hull who runs What the Frock Productions. The other drag actors in the Rhinestones Are Forever Murder is a Drag show also work with What the Frock Productions.

Bacon & L’eggs Family Friendly Drag Brunch
(Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at the Howe Sound Taphouse)
Bacon & L’eggs is a long-running, family-friendly drag brunch event in East Vancouver. It takes place at the Howe Sound Taphouse & Kitchen at the Waldorf Hotel. The venue’s address is 1489 East Hastings Street. It’s a block from Clarke Street near the Mike’s NOFRILLS supermarket.
This daytime drag show includes performances by a number of artists, lots of laughs and prizes. Performers at the show include Carlotta, Mona Moore, Just Jenny, Phyllis Hull and others.
Admission is by donation (and you pay for what you eat and drink). Partial proceeds benefit Friends for Life which is a charity and holistic wellness centre that supports people living with life-challenging illnesses including HIV, hepatitis C, cancer and other diseases.

Scott Baculum’s Coming Out
(Friday, February 21st, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion)
This event takes place in the Upstairs Lounge at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch at 2205 Commercial Drive in Vancouver. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the performance starts at 8:00. Billed as a “debaucherous night of drag, burlesque and draglesque,” the show is for adults ages 19+. It stars drag king Scott Baculum who was the winner of the Drag Fight Club 2024. He’s joined though by a bunch of his friends.
Tickets cost $15.00 in advance online (or $17.31 including online fees). They include admission to a second show, however, so if you want to stick around and also see Glimmervessa: The Musical Takeover later that night, you can do so for no extra charge. Glimmervessa: The Musical Takeover
(Friday, February 21st, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion)
Glimmervessa: The Musical Takeover is a unique drag show with a Broadway musical theme. It takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion on Commercial Drive on the same night as Scott Baculum’s Coming Out show. If you buy your tickets for one or the other of the two shows, you can attend both for no extra charge. The first show starts at 8:00 pm. This second one runs from 9:30 until 11:30 pm.
Glimmervessa features a night of comedy, Broadway musical tunes and performances with drag queens Effervessa and Glimmer Rouge. The show is for adults only and costs $15.00 in advance, or $17.31 after the online fees. Tickets at the door cost $20.00.

Sing for Their Supper – Community Karaoke Fundraiser
(Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at the Howe Sound Taphouse)
The Sing for Their Supper Community Karaoke Event is a family-friendly fundraiser at the Howe Sound Taphouse & Kitchen at 1489 East Hastings Street. The event features an evening of singing, fun and fundraising. There are drag performances, but also karaoke, so you can join in on the singing too!
Admission to this event is by donation, with a suggested amount of $15. You can give more though if you want, or less. The singing and other entertainment is included with general admission. Food and drinks though are extra. The show runs from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Although tickets are free, you still need to book your spot in advance.
Hosted by drag queens Phyllis Hull & Mona Moore, this event is a fundraiser for Friends For Life which is a charity that supports people living with life-challenging illnesses including hepatitis C, HIV and cancer. Partial proceeds from this event help the charity assist people in the community who struggle to afford wholesome meals. There is also a 50/50 draw.

DRAG MAKEUP COURSE
In addition to shows, What the Frock Productions hosts drag makeup workshops from time to time. The third edition of their course takes place on the Sundays of March 2nd and 9th. There is also a Graduation Show on Friday, March 28th.
Registration fees for the two-day course cost $175 (although there might be a $150 early-bird price if you book far enough in advance). Included with admission are the two days of workshops which include over 12 hours of mentorship. students also have the option to participate in the Graduation Show in front of a live audience on March 28th. As well, attendees can get 25% off at Studio FX, storewide (which is an excellent way for new performers to get their starter kit at a great price). To register for the course call 604.685.5509.
The workshops take place at Studio FX which is a cosmetics store at 925 West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver. The location is near Christ Church Cathedral, the Bill Reid Gallery and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

The XXX Files is an adult-only cabaret-style event full of the unexplained. It has a mystery and supernatural theme. The XXX Files features a mix of drag, burlesque, comedy and live singing. It takes place from 8:00 until 10:00 pm at the Tiki Bar at the Waldorf Hotel in East Vancouver.
Scheduled to perform at the show on March 27th are Dandy, Mona Moore, Phyllis Hull, Hilary Fillier and Faye Havoc. Tickets cost $22.63 including online fees. Dee-Mons Cabaret: Naturally Freaky
(Friday, March 28th, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion)
The Dee-Mons Cabaret takes place in the Upstairs Lounge at the Royal Canadian Legion on Commercial Drive at East 6th Avenue. The show runs from 9:30 until 11:30 pm and takes place soon after the Dressing Room Graduation Show finishes on the same night.
It’s not Halloween, but this event has a freaky and supernatural theme. It’s not scary though. Just fun and entertaining. The show includes magic tricks, a bit of burlesque and drag performances.
Note: Dee Monstrative, a wonderful person and inspiring performer, passed away in 2024. This show is continuing her legacy and welcomes you to remember her in this alternative evening of entertainment.
Admission to this adults-only event costs $17.31 in advance including online fees (or $20.00 at the door). Your ticket gets you into the earlier show too though, so if you also want to see the Dressing Room Graduation Show which starts at 8:00 pm on the same night, you can do so for free.

The Originals – From Baby Drag To Drag Stars
(Friday, April 11th, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion)
The Originals – From Baby Drag To Drag Stars takes place in the Upstairs Lounge at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch at 2205 Commercial Drive in Vancouver. The show is a cabaret-style event hosted by drag queen superstars Burna Dart and Malandro. Other drag performers include Phyllis Hull, Banana Delvey, Miss October and Peter Packer, plus maybe a couple of other guest artists.
The show bills itself as “a cabaret of drag and performance in the most intimate, ridiculous, trashiest place on the East Side!” The Legion might not agree with that description, but that’s the style and flavour of the show.
Seating at the event is on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority seating, however, is available for folks with alternative mobilities. A stair lift is also available for people who need it. There is a cash-only bar, but drinks are only between around $5 and $7. There is also an ATM machine in Legion’s main bar downstairs. Interestingly, outside food is allowed at the event. All drinks, however, need to be purchased at the bar.

Sibling Rivalry – A Drag Family Drama

Sibling Rivalry is a drag show featuring a drag family rivalry. It also takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion on Commercial Drive, right after The Originals show. The event features a showdown between drag queen siblings Jesse and Virginia Slim. The performance runs from 9:30 pm until around 11:30 pm (although exact times may vary).
Admission costs $15.00 (plus a $2.31 online service fee). If you buy a ticket for this show, however, if you go early, you can watch the first show of the night for no extra charge. Drag Show Event with Hostelling International
(Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at HI Vancouver Downtown)
What the Frock Productions also hosts a special event in cooperation with Hostelling International during the Vancouver Pride Festival. The event takes place at the HI Vancouver Downtown location at 1114 Burnaby Street. It starts at 2:00 pm, which is soon after the Vancouver Pride Parade finishes.
