Car Free Day in Burnaby

There are Car Free Day street party-style events in Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge and other communities. The newest one is Burnaby Car Free Day.

In 2026 Car Free Day takes place in Burnaby on Sunday, August 30th.

Other Car Free Day events happening this year include Port Coquitlam Car Free Day and a Car Free Day event in Maple Ridge which is part of that city’s Our Neck of the Woods festival.

Car Free Day in Burnaby

The second annual Car Free Day event in Burnaby takes place on Sunday, August 30th. The event runs from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm. It happens on Edmonds Street along the four or so blocks between Mary Avenue and Kingsway. The location is by Edmonds Park and the Edmonds Community Centre (which is at 7433 Edmonds Street). It’s also just 1.5 km east of the Nikkei Museum & Cultural Centre.

The same as with other Car Free Day events in the Lower Mainland, the street festival in Burnaby features live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food trucks, community booths and artisan vendors. Admission is free.

What to Expect at Burnaby Car Free Day

Compared to other Car Free Day events, the Burnaby one is fairly small. It’s like a tiny version of the ones that happen on Commercial Drive and Main Street in Vancouver.

Food vendors at the Burnaby event in 2025 included Cravings Kettle Corn, Crema Ice Cream, Croffle, Lemon Heaven, Peace Sweetz, Reel Mac & Cheese, and Tacosaurus. At the event there was a Community Stage, Family Stage and Main Stage. Various acts performed on the different stages throughout the afternoon. In 2025, Latin American musician Frankie Hidalgo also played on the street near Fulton Avenue a few times.

As of early March, 2026 vendors and performers are to be confirmed.
