Tips and Advice
Below are tips and suggestions on how to make the most of your experience at the Columbia Street Food Truck Fest.
TIP #1: Take public transit if you can because 1) parking in the area will be challenging and 2) you’ll be able to wash your food down with beer and not have to worry about driving home.
TIP #2: New Westminster SkyTrain Station is conveniently located at one end of the festival venue, and Columbia Station is at the other (so you don’t have to retrace your steps if you don’t want to).
TIP #3: While you’re in the area, especially if you arrive early or want to escape the crowds, go for a stroll along the waterfront. Columbia Street is only about a 5-minute walk from a beautiful walking (and cycling) area along the Fraser River.
TIP #4: If the weather is good then the street will be packed! If you hate crowds, then this event isn’t for you (unless you go on a rainy day!). The least busy time, however, is usually at the start, at around 4 pm, and then it gets continually busier as the evening progresses.
TIP #5: Go for the food and take your friends and an appetite! This is the biggest one-day food truck festival in the country, and admission is FREE! Vendors sell everything from Chinese dim sum to Japanese teriyaki, East European pierogis, German schnitzel, Thai noodles and gourmet ice cream! There’s something for everyone!
