Public Disco on Granville Island

Public Disco is a non-profit that hosts pop-up style events in Metro Vancouver. It hosts one, for example, in June on Granville Island.

Some of the events are free and some are ticketed. The next Public Disco event is the Blossom Block Party at the Bentall Centre on April 5th, 2025.

In the summer they typically have events on Granville Island, at the City Centre Artist Lodge, and at the Bentall Centre. They also have a Pride Block Party in August.

Public Disco Events in Vancouver

The Public Disco Society works to bring Metro Vancouver communities together through music. The non-profit organization hosts various disco-style events each year. Some are free for all ages to attend, while others are ticketed and for adults only. The events feature DJs and artists, as well as inclusive and welcoming environments. In some cases, there are also market vendors, pop-up bars and food trucks.

In 2025 the Public Disco Society hosts one event in April. They usually have four pop-up events during their Summer Series too. Continue reading below for details about the April 2025 event, as well as details about last year’s summer events that may return in 2025.

Blossom Block Party (2025)

Presented by both the Public Disco Society and the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, the Blossom Block Party is a one-day event on April 5th, 2025. It runs from 2:00 to 9:00 pm at the Bentall Centre at 1055 Dunsmuir Street.

The event is free to attend and open to the public. It’s a celebration of the beginning of spring with live music, dancing, activities for kids and more. Food trucks are on site and there’s a pop-up bar with alcoholic beverages for adults. The entertainment lineup features Dairy Free, Esette, Abasi and Souldoze.

Granville Island Block Party (2024)

Public Disco’s 2024 Summer Series kicked off with a free event on Saturday, June 8th. The Granville Island Block Party took place at Lot 55 on Granville Island. The outdoor venue is behind the Granville Island Brewing building at 1411 Cartwright Street. Festivities started at 2:00 pm and ran until 10:00 pm.

The event featured music by Chi & Ro Lee, Delacru, La Zonida, Table Tutors, and Maxey & J Squeezy. There were also dance performances by Amy, Jamn Camrn and Maria Belen. Although the Granville Island Block Party was open to all ages, it was a fully licensed event. There was lots of drinking, dancing and socializing. A small market with local vendors and food trucks was on site throughout the event. There were also special activities for children available until 6:00 pm.

Public Disco x SLAB Party (2024)

The first ticketed event in the Summer Series was an Open Air Day Party on July 20th, 2024. It happened at City Centre Artist Lodge, located at 2111 Main Street in Vancouver.

Headliners of the pop-up event were Justin Martin and Nala. Also performing were Just Sheila, G-Luve and Dane, all of whom are local artists. The event ran from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm. In addition to music, there were also open artist studios to explore, along with various food trucks and pop-up bars.

General admission to this event ranged from about $31 to $53 per person.

Pride Block Party (2024)

The Pride Block Party was the other ticketed event in Public Disco’s 2024 Summer Series. It ran from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm on August 3rd. The event happened at West 3rd Avenue and Ontario Street. It was in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood just a few blocks south of Science World.

The Pride celebration was for adults only. It included queer dance music by international and local performers. The 2024 lineup featured Shaun J. Wright, Sappho, DJ Grooveheart, Adam 2 and Sam Steele. Everyone was encouraged to dress in expressive clothing. There were a couple of food trucks to choose from at the event, along with a bar serving alcoholic drinks.

Tickets to the 2024 Pride Block Party cost between about $23 and $45 each.

Downtown Block Party (2024)

Last but not least, the Downtown Block Party took place on September 7th, 2024, at the Bentall Centre at 1025 Dunsmuir Street in Vancouver. The location was a short walk away from Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre. The event began at 2:00 pm and finished at 10:00 pm. It was free to attend.

The final event of last year’s Summer Series featured music with The Ryze, Lerma, Mother Mary and more. Similar to the Granville Island Block Party in June, there were market and food vendors, pop-up bars, plus kids activities until 6:00 pm. The event was a fun place to be for all ages.
