Pinoy Festival in Burnaby

The Pinoy Fiesta is one of a couple of major Filipino events in the Lower Mainland each year. The other main festival celebrating Filipino culture is the Philippine Days Festival which takes place in Burnaby in July.

The Philippine Days Festival claims to be “British Columbia’s biggest celebration of Philippine Arts and Cultural Heritage.” The Pinoy Fiesta, meanwhile, used to claim to be “the most awaited and biggest Filipino cultural event in Canada.”

Both of the above events are fairly big and draw large crowds of Vancouver Filipino residents. That’s not surprising given how many people of Filipino descent live in the Lower Mainland! The majority of British Columbia’s 170,000+ Filipino population, and around 20% of all Filipinos in Canada, live in Metro Vancouver!

Where and When

The Pinoy Fiesta used to take place in late August at Memorial South Park in Vancouver. Since COVID-19, however, it has happened in a few different places in June.

In 2022 the United Filipino Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC) hosted the event outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. The following year it happened at Burnaby Civic Plaza. In 2025 it took place at Swangard Stadium, on Saturday, June 14th, from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm.

The 2025 Pinoy Festival was a day of celebration, healing, and community pride. With the theme “We Rise,” the event honoured the victims of the recent Lapu-Lapu Day tragedy and brought people together through food, music, cultural performances and art. The festival featured over 180 vendors and community booths along with a Zumba workout, a solidarity parade and a group art project featuring Sarimanok, a symbol of hope. There was also enhanced security and free shuttle service helped make the festival safe and welcoming for all.

What to Expect

At the Pinoy Fiesta you can expect to see dozens of community information booths and hundreds if not thousands of Filipinos. During the day there are cultural performances and live music on the main stage. There are also various exhibits and food vendors, as well as a beer garden and a fashion showcase. Admission to the event is free.

In addition, in 2025, they also had a 50/50 raffle draw with a chance to win half the jackpot. Tickets were available in packs of 3 for $10, 10 for $25 and 50 for $50.
