Surrey Pride Festival

The Pride celebrations in Surrey are somewhat smaller scale but there are still a number of events that take place over the course of the month of June.

Pride Events & Celebrations in Surrey

June is Pride Month and cities across the country hold special events and celebrations during the month. Surrey is no different, with the main Surrey Pride Festival in 2024 happening on June 22nd.

You can expect to see plenty of performers in drag as well as local bands on stage. It’s a free event and open to everyone. This year was a special one as it was the 25th anniversary of the Surrey Pride Festival!

Along with the main festival there are other related events that take place during June. In previous years they included drag queen bingo, online history panels, high teas, bowling nights and more. There were some events that took place in 2024 as well.

Surrey Pride Festival

The 2024 Surrey Pride Festival happened on June 22nd in Surrey Civic Plaza. It was outside Surrey City Hall at 13450 104th Avenue in Surrey. The event was free to attend.

Last year’s event took place from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm. It featured lots of live entertainment. Performers at the event in 2023 included Emerald Fire, Foxy Cleopatra, ARRIVAL Canada, Westcoast Harmony and more. Exact details for 2024 were to be confimred, but it probably looked similar to last year’s.

Other Surrey Pride Events

Along with the main festival there were a couple other events that took place in 2024.

First, there was Drag Queen & High Tea Bingo on Tuesday, May 14th. Hosted by Alex House, the event was a chance for older members of the community to gather and enjoy games of bingo, glasses of tea and some drag performances.

Then on June 1st, the 25th anniversary of Surrey Pride was celebrated with the inaugural Rainbow Gala and Awards Night. The red carpet event featured a three-course dinner, live music, a silent auction and the honouring of some of the most prominent members of the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
