Harrison Hot Springs Bands on the Beach

Bands on the Beach at Harrison Hot Springs

Bands on the Beach is a music festival that happens in Harrison Hot Springs over the Labour Day Long Weekend in September each year.

The festival takes place in 2023 on the Saturday and Sunday of September 2nd and 3rd. Other awesome events happening that same weekend include the PNE Fair and Taiwanfest in Vancouver as well as both the Shipyards Night Market and Vancouver Polish Festival in North Vancouver. There is also the Nikkei Matsuri in Burnaby, Charcuterie on the Pier in White Rock, and Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival, Chilliwack Corn Maze and Harrison Sunflower Festival in the Fraser Valley.

TIP: If heading to Harrison Hot Springs for Bands on the Beach, stop at the Harrison Sunflower Festival on your way by. It’s new, but also not new. Years ago the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival used to be in Agassiz, but then it moved to Chilliwack. This year, it has moved back to Agassiz and taken on its new name. The new venue is beautiful, even better than where it used to be in Chilliwack. If you like flower festivals, you’ll want to check it out! And it’s just a short drive from Harrison!

Bands on the Beach

Free concerts take place in the afternoon along the waterfront during Bands on the Beach. A usual headliner performer each year is the local country rock star Todd Richard who is exceptional.

When and Where

Bands on the Beach takes place on the first Saturday and Sunday of September (which is also the Labour Day Long Weekend).

The 2020 event was not able to take place in its usual format. Instead, the concerts took place online on Saturday, September 5th, 2020. The 2021 edition returned to the event’s normal scheduling, as it took place on September 4th and 5th. In 2022 Bands on the Beach happened on September 3rd and 4th.

2023 is the same as the event has been post-pandemic with two days of shows on September 2nd and 3rd.

Labour Day Weekend Activities

The Resort Town

Harrison Hot Springs is located in the Fraser Valley about a two-hour drive east of downtown Vancouver. It’s a resort town right on beautiful Harrison Lake and worth checking out any time of year, but especially when there is an event like Bands on the Beach going on.

Concert Venues

The free concerts during the Bands on the Beach event happen in the park by the beach near Esplanade Avenue. There is an outdoor stage there and people bring their lawn chairs to listen to the music and admire the views.
