Mall Location

Metrotown is located at 4700 Kingsway in Burnaby. It’s a huge complex bordered by Kingsway, MacKay Avenue, Central Boulevard and Nelson Avenue.

Places of interest nearby include Central Park to the west and Deer Lake Park to the northeast. Both are just minutes away by car.

Mall Parking

Metropolis at Metrotown has a number of street-level parking lots as well as an extensive network of underground parking. It gets busy both above and below ground there though, especially on rainy weekends and around Christmas.

TIP #1: There is a lot of free parking underground, but it’s a huge place so don’t forget what section you leave your car in! People have been known to get lost (or at least have not been able to find their vehicle for a good amount of time).

TIP #2: Take public transit if you can, unless of course you plan to buy lots of things!

Mall Public Transit

Metrotown is well-served by public transit. The Metrotown SkyTrain Station, conveniently, is right at the mall by its southwest corner, not far from SportChek.

Metrotown Stores

Metropolis at Metrotown is a gigantic shopping centre with hundreds of stores. It’s the biggest mall in British Columbia, in fact, and one of the Lower Mainland’s most popular.

Metrotown has a number of large anchor stores including Superstore (for groceries) and the Hudson’s Bay department store. There is also a Chapters book store, Winners, H&M and SportChek.

Popular brand-name clothing stores at the mall include Banana Republic, Club Monaco, the GAP, Guess, La Vie en Rose, Nike, Old Navy, Roots, Victoria’s Secret and Zara.

Since 2017, Metrotown is also home to Vancouver’s first Uniqlo store which is a trendy yet relatively affordable Japanese apparel chain. A member of our Vancouver’s Best Places website team used to live in Japan actually, and Uniqlo is one of his favourite stores! He’s happy that Vancouver now has one!

Other Metrotown retailers of note include Purdy’s Chocolates, Lugaro Jewellers, Sunglass Hut, Swatch, and the T&T Asian-style supermarket. There is also a Toys R Us.

Also at Metrotown is Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis which is one of the Lower Mainland’s largest movie theatres.

There are of course numerous places to eat and drink at the mall including fast food establishments like Fresh Slice Pizza, Blenz Coffee, Booster Juice and Tim Hortons. Outside the mall and across the street, there is also a Cactus Club restaurant at 4653 Kingsway as well as numerous Asian restaurants scattered around the area.

Note: Not in the Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre, but just a block or so away, is the Crystal Mall which features dozens of additional shops and restaurants including many of Asian origin.

360-Degree Photo

To get a good idea of what the mall looks like, check out the following 360-degree photo. It’s of the Grand Court area of the shopping centre, so not a typical area. It doesn’t look like this everywhere. The photo though gives you a good idea of the size of the place. At the bottom, on the ground floor, you’ll see the Washed Ashore exhibit from 2022.

If you click the + and – buttons on the photo you can zoom in and out. If you swipe the photo from side to side, or up and down, you can see the view from all around.
