Farewell to Summer Fireworks Festival in New Westminster

There used to be fireworks in New Westminster on Canada Day each year. In the last few years, however, July 1st hasn’t had the usual fireworks.

Because of the above cancellation in July a couple of years ago, the Farewell to Summer Fireworks Festival is a relatively new event in New Westminster. It’s an afternoon and evening of family-friendly activities towards the end of summer.

The end-of-August event features a market with local vendors, a beverage garden, and a stage with live music and entertainment. There is also a spectacular fireworks display to close the night. The festival is free to attend!

When and Where

The Farewell to Summer Fireworks Festival runs from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025.

All festivities happen outdoors at Westminster Quay along Quayside Drive. The venue is close to the Fraser River Discovery Centre, which is an especially fun place for children to visit.

Schedule of Activities

The Farewell to Summer Fireworks Festival kicks off with a market that runs from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Over 30 vendors usually participate in the event. The market sells a wide range of products such as candles, crafts, baked goods and chocolates.

The live entertainment portion of the event runs from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm on the outdoor stage. The beer garden happens during those same hours too. Multiple singers and musicians perform during this time.

The entertainment schedule from last year is listed below. 2025’s entertainment schedule will likely be similar but with details to be confirmed.

3:45 pm – Movement Dance Co.
4:15 pm – Miss Shauna
5:20 pm – Sacred Sol Band
6:40 pm – Liquid Blue
8:00 pm – Marlin Ramazzini Band

The Farewell to Summer Fireworks Festival concludes with a fireworks display just after 9:00 pm. The fireworks run for about 10 to 15 minutes and everything wraps up at around 10:00 pm.
