Where and When | Activities | Event Schedule | Other Information

Canada Day in Mission BC

Canada Day festivities in Mission usually begin at around 8:00 am with a pancake breakfast hosted by the local Rotary Club at the park.

In the past, pre-COVID-19, the party finished around 14 hours later, at 10:00 pm, with fireworks at the Mission Raceway. That hasn’t been the case the last few years, however. Now, there are no fireworks and everything happens at Fraser River Heritage Park. It’s still a great small-town community event, though, and admission is free.

Where and When

The main Canada Day celebrations take place at Mission’s Fraser River Heritage Park. The venue’s address is 7494 Mary Street. Activities usually run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, plus there is a pancake breakfast starting at 8:00 am. Mission itself is located in the Fraser Valley on the north side of the Fraser River from Abbotsford.

Canada Day Activities

A fair amount happens on Canada Day in Mission. Last year the day started with a pancake breakfast at 8:00 am. The cost for that was $5. It wasn’t until around 10:00 am that the day’s main activities began. At about 11:00 am the local Leq’á:mel First Nations did its official welcome, the Canadian flag was raised and everyone sang O Canada. The schedule in 2026 will likely be similar, but with exact details to be confirmed.

Other activities during the Canada Day event include performances by various groups, martial arts demonstrations and magic shows. There are also usually dog shows, lumberjack shows, and a youth zone featuring a bunch of games for kids.

The event typically offers face painting, balloon twisting and caricature portraits from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. In addition, there is a Monster Foam Party in Rona Kids Zone.
