Capilano Mall in North Vancouver

Located on Marine Drive in North Vancouver, Capilano Mall is a shopping centre with around 90 stores and services. Its main anchor store is a Walmart.

The mall is also home to the North Shore Bike Park, which is a fabulous place, but only until March 30th. After that date the bike park is closing. The bike park is the largest indoor bike park in Western Canada. It’s a popular place for bike riders to go for fun, especially on days with poor weather.

The mall hosts events from time to time. In 2024, for example, the shopping centre hosted its fourth annual Foodie Fest event on the Father’s Day Weekend in June. The mall also has special seasonal events and activities, like at Christmas and Easter.

For details about the shopping centre, see the official Capilano Mall website.

North Shore Bike Park

The North Shore Bike Park is the largest indoor bike park in British Columbia. The attraction opened inside Capilano Mall in 2023. It took over the old Sears department store, at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Marine Drive. The attraction is open daily from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, so even when the mall is closed at night.

The bike park covers more than 60,000 square feet. It’s a fun place to be, even if you don’t actually ride a bike. Bicycles and scooters are available to rent, as are helmets, which are mandatory. You can also rent knee and elbow pads.

The North Shore Bike Park offers many different tracks. The easiest ones are marked green, with light blue being a little more challenging. Darker blue tracks are difficult and black ones are for the best, most advanced riders. There’s something for all ages and skill levels to enjoy.

Capilano Mall Foodie Fest

Capilano Foodie Fest is an annual affair at Capilano Mall in North Vancouver. As the name of the festival suggests, the event is a weekend full of tasty food. The fourth edition of Capilano Foodie Fest was on the Saturday and Sunday of the Father’s Day Weekend in 2024.

The family-friendly event takes place outdoors in the mall’s parking lot (by the Kin’s Farm Market entrance on the west side of the mall). The event is free to attend. You just have to pay for whatever food you want to try. Children can enjoy complimentary face painting, balloon twisting and crafts. There is also a bean bag throwing game.

At the event there is a Good Eats Market with local artisanal food vendors. In 2024 they had a new line-up of food trucks offering savory snacks and sweet treats. The event’s PB & Jam zone featured live music throughout the weekend.

(Note: Capilano Foodie Fest might not run in 2025. If it doesn’t, then a different event will likely happen in its place, and probably inside the mall instead of outside.)
