The Dundarave Hoedown is a community tradition that dates back to the 1980s. After not happening for a number of years, the Ambleside Dundarave Business Improvement Association (ADBIA) brought back the event in 2022. The non-profit association now hopes to run the Dundarave Hoedown on an annual basis.

The fun-filled day happens in the second half of summer each year. It’s open to the public, so it’s free to attend. There are activities for all ages.

When and Where?

Last year’s Dundarave Hoedown took place on Friday, August 22nd. The exact date for the 2026 event is still to be confirmed. The hoedown usually begins at 4:00 pm and ends at around 9:00 pm.

The event is typically held along Marine Drive in West Vancouver, between 24th Street and 25th Street. The area is closed to traffic during the event. It becomes a pedestrian-only zone with a lively atmosphere.

Event Activities

The Dundarave Hoedown is a one-day event with lots of things to do. As the name suggests, the event is a country-themed affair full of dancing and music. Expect to see people of all ages wearing western-style hats and clothes.

Crowds gather around a stage and enjoy live folk and country bands. You’ll probably see experienced dancers start line dancing, and everyone joining in shortly after. There’s more to the event than just music and dancing, however. The Dundarave Hoedown features games and activities for kids. There’s a photo booth and a face painting station. Pony rides are also available on site.

The Dundarave Hoedown offers various food and drinks too. There’s barbecued meat and other options available for purchase. For people ages 19 and older, there’s also a beer garden serving alcoholic drinks.
