Christmas in the Square & Tree Lighting Event in Port Coquitlam
Christmas in the Square is a beloved Port Coquitlam tradition that marks the start of the holiday season. In 2025 the event celebrates its 13th year (although in the past it hasn’t always happened at the same venue or under the same name).
Each year, families and friends gather to celebrate the season with festive lights and cheerful music. In addition to that, at the event there is a winter market that features 50 or so local artisan vendors selling unique and wonderful handmade goods. The event captures the warmth and joy of the holidays, offering something special for all ages to enjoy.
Where and When is Christmas in the Square
In 2025 Christmas in the Square takes place on Saturday, November 29th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. The venue’s address is 2150 Wilson Avenue. The event is part of the city’s Winter in the City celebrations and is free to attend. Visitors can explore both indoor and outdoor areas of the community centre. From craft market shopping to the evening tree lighting ceremony, the day is filled with holiday festivities and family fun.

What to Expect
The event features a winter market where local vendors showcase handmade crafts, artisanal goods and seasonal treats. Visitors can enjoy the Sip & Shop experience, sampling locally-made beverages while browsing through the stalls. Live music and other performances fill the square for much of the day. Families can visit Santa’s photo booth and enjoy holiday snacks. There are also fun holiday-themed activities for kids to participate in.
A highlight of the evening is the Tree Lighting Ceremony. It brings the community together under twinkling lights to officially start the holiday season.
